Anyone ever experience a crash to XMB? Playing a game and then, bam....your back at the XMB? Or maybe watching a movie?

Happening to me with Rockband 3 and a downloadable game called Digger.

Getting annoyed with all these firmware updates...

I've had my 360 crash way more than my PS3. I can't think of a time when my PS3 crashed, besides browsing the web and Flash came into play. I haven't updated since before October, and I get nervous when I update any firmware for ANY system. We have crappy internet that cuts out where I live and the electric has known to go out in the past for no reason during good weather. Not a good mix.

So far, the only experience I've had like that was on the web browser. Besides that, the only crash I've ever had with my system was with Oblivion (which just locked everything up), though that only happened once.

It hasnt happened again but it was concerning. I noticed a lot of posts on Rockband 3 forums so I'm not the only one. It did happen on another game though so it makes me wonder if its a firmware update.

I'd recommend you download firmware updates to a flash drive and then install them. As for the original question I'm sure it's happened but I can't remember my PS3 crashing back to the XMB.
