I'm enjoying the 3DS a lot! I only picked up SF IV and even though I'm not good at it, I'm having a blast (and there is a ton of things to enjoy in there, trials, collecting figures and of course the arcade game! ).
I plan on picking up Pilotwings and Steel Diver when I find them at a particular store (to get awesome customer reward points!) and I am think of 2 of the following from Best Buy's current promotion:
Lego Star Wars
Ridge Racer
Ghost Recon Shadow Wars
Bust a Move
The built in stuff is cool too... my wife played some Face Raiders and thought the system was impressive... she even wanted to show her mom which surprised the heck out of me! lol
The pedometer is great... I used steps to buy some heroes to attempt to save me... so far, not so good... only made it a couple of rooms in. lol I love this little RPG! I hope Nintendo has more to add to this little gem in the future!
Just a complaint on the Play Coins. I get 10 a day by doing nothing special - just my daily walk to/from the parking lot. So my first complaint is too few per day and no incentive for me to actually exercise. The second is that the two Mii Plaza 'games' eat those coins without giving you much of value. For 2 coins, you
might get a puzzle piece for a picture - or you might get one you already have. The more pieces you have, the better chance of not getting a new one. That sucks big time when it takes a whole day to get one stupid piece. 2 coins will also buy you a 'hero' for about three weak sword attempts or one magic spell in the 'find mii' game. It looks it will take a few hundred coins to get through that. I'm at the point now where it takes certain color or level heroes to make a dent in the enemies. That means I will waste more coins for ones that can't do anything.

Personally I think the play coin payout should be adjustable. For instance, start out by earning 10 per day, 1 per 100 steps you take (as we have today), and make that the
bare minimum. But have the system push you to walk more and more each day by making the payout less frequent. As time goes on, have the system slowly add to the number of steps you need to earn one coin, up to a maximum of 1,000 steps per coin. This would give you incentive enough to walk
more each day, thus increasing your daily exercise as time goes on. But put a maximum cap on it because too much walking isn't good for a body. You could have the system smartly adjust up and down as needed, depending on the overall average number of steps over a certain period of time (i.e., last seven days, previous month, etc.). That way, if you walk less one month, then the coin payout is raised as an incentive to get you to walk a little more than you did the previous month. If you walk a lot more for one month, the coin payout is lowered to get you to walk more for the same payout. In both cases, the idea is to convince you to walk more to earn your coins.
As for the return on your play coin investments, that should also be fixed, but could be done so by tying the value of the coins (or the number of coins needed to buy stuff) directly to the number of Miis you have in your Mii Plaza. The specifics on that I haven't worked out just yet, but just seems like that would be one of the more logical two solutions (the other, of course, is increase the value of the stuff you get from the coins, or decrease the cost of the stuff you currently get).

Of course, can't comment on the 3DS without commenting on the 3D. First off, it works fantastic! I get a headache after an hour or two but it goes away once you stop playing.
Have you tried adjusting the depth setting? I find all the way up to be hard on the eyes, but 1/2 up works well.
Yeah I have it at a good depth now I think, after an hour I didn't have any problems today.
And Topten to answer your questions:
1. Still looks really good without the 3D but the 3D adds so much more to the games. Otherwise the graphics appear to be around what the WIi is churning out now, which still looks good in its own right, especially for a handheld.
2. Pilot wings is turning out to be my favorite of the two games I got (the other Ridge Racer). I haven't played any other version of the game yet, but from what I've seen with this one it has a lot going for it. The game is really accessible to even casual gamers or complete novices (had my mom try it out and she really liked it too). And the best part of this game is the 3D. When you start up the game for the first time it lets you just fly around the island and I spent about an hour just wowed at what I saw. The only thing I could compare it to was playing an N64 for the first time back in the day. Ridge Racer has great 3D too, but Pilot Wings just blew me away. Unfortunately I don't really think there is a free flying mode after you first start up the game :/
1. Agreed. Games without the 3D are nice and look very much like the Wii and all it's capable of, which is quite impressive for a handheld. But the 3D turned on just gives the games that extra something they need to be particularly special (in most cases).
2. I never played Pilotwings 64, but I have played the original SNES Pilotwings. I have to say that Pilotwings Resort is quite a bit easier than the SNES original, but it also has a slightly different feel to it. The SNES one always seemed somewhat serious in nature, if not just a bit sterile in its presentation. The SNES game's difficulty ramped up quite heavily as your progressed, to the point of demanding the very best you could do just to pass on to the next levels in the game. You were expected to execute your piloting missions to the letter and finish as close to perfect as you possibly could in order to earn just enough points to squeak by the licensing for each class. However, it was also a very short game if I recall correctly. I think Pilotwings Resort has a good bit more stuff to do than the SNES original did.
Oh and there is a free flight mode in Pilotwings Resort. I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to or not, but in addition to the missions you normally do, the tap panel to the right of it will get you into free flight mode. If you're referring to Pilotwings 64 however, I have no clue about that one.
