Hey everyone I just purchased a couple of gamecube games to play on my Wii. I had a gamecube for a while previously just to play Phantasy Star, but got rid of it, so i am looking for some games to pick up for cheap that are good solid games. maybe games that are not that well known. hidden gems. So far i have picked up

Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2
SW Rouge Squadron II

Open to all suggestions.

Off the top of my head:

Any of the Mario sports titles (Baseball, Tennis, Golf)
Luigi's Mansion
Super Mario Sunshine
Pikmin
Tales of Symphonia (might be pricey, don't know)
Viewtiful Joe (both 1 & 2)
Alien Hominid
Sonic Adventure (it's an updated port)
Legend of Zelda: Windwaker

I don't think you can go wrong with Fire Emblem and Eternal Darkness.
Animal Crossing is another good choice on the GC because of the ability to collect NES games and play them.
Luigi's Mansion and Mario Sunshine I had a blast with.
I prefer the GC version of Twilight Princess over the Wii version, maybe because it just "feels" more like Zelda.

Cheap? Hmmm... For super-cheap, asides from what's already been named, check out Super Monkey Ball, XGIII and F-Zero GX (if you like racing), Timesplitters 2. Those should all be under $5 a pop and are pretty good.

Did anyone mention Luigi's Mansion, the best game released on Gamecube?

I find it odd that Pikmin is still expensive given it was re-released on the Wii.

Don't forget, if you do NOT have a SNES, but want to play the EXCELLENT "Super Punch Out" then get "Fight Night Round 2" because it is included on the disc, in all its SNES excellence.

Likewise with the Resident Evil games. The classic remakes that are also on the Wii are still $15+ at GameStop last I checked. It doesn't make a lot of sense. :?

I was going to name Pikmin both 1 and 2 as they were a couple of the funnest games I'd played ever, but then I remembered they had released Wii versions of the same game.
Anyone know if the Wiimote controls added anything to the game?

I'll add these games (honestly don't know how cheap they are these days)

Animal Crossing
Burnout 2: Point of Impact
Gauntlet Dark Legacy
Gun
The Simpsons Hit & Run

AC is still at least 15 I believe... gun should be around 8, simpsons 6, others I'm not sure about. Baldur's gate isn't that bad and should be pretty cheap.

there's a capcom title called PN 03 which isn't half-bad, probably around four dollars. Then again, it's almost half-bad.

It SHOULD be. Pikmin 1 is one of THE best games on GC. It's not just great, it's freakin timeless. I love my copy to death. I will never, ever sell it. I'll sell my GC Zeldas and Marios before I let go of Pikmin. Pikmin 2 as well, if only for the two player modes. :P

Mind you, I bought mine (black label and CIB too) for $3, so I haven't a clue what it's really worth.

BTW, speaking of NPC! Pikmin 1, am I the only one who was a little disappointed by it? I mean, sure the everything is present, but on my Wii and copy of the game some sounds don't work, like Bulborbs and other sound effects like that. Kinda killed a bit of the Pikmin experience for me. Also, I didn't like the Wii-mote controls as much as the GC controller. While some things were made easier (aiming the cursor), others were made much harder (controlling pikmin and fast-throwing). Pretty much the only reason I bought NPC! Pikmin 1 was to give Nintendo more money. Companies deserve to be paid for doing a good job, and what a good job Pikmin was. "Good job" is an understatement.

EDIT: Didn't see this post.

Nintendo for some strange reason hasn't localized NPC! Pikmin 2 for North America yet. It's been available in Japan, Europe and Australia since 2009. What's the hold up Nintendo?!

As for NPC! Pikmin 1, as I said above, it wasn't a full improvement IMO. The big draw to the Wiimote was making Pikmin play more like a PC RTS with the IR pointer thingy. While yes it did add an interesting twist to how Pikmin is played (some of your old strategies may need to be adjusted), I really didn't like that the Wiimote + Nunchuk didn't facilitate all of Pikmin's controls and functions.

For instance, take note first that Olimar moves with the Nunchuk thumb stick and throws with the A button. Now, the Pikmin are given orders with the D-Pad. Right away you should see a problem here. It's really hard to do the fast-throw technique with this control setup. If you're even somewhat skilled at Pikmin, you'll quickly learn to use that technique to speed up otherwise slow tasks.

If you didn't care for any of the higher level stuff people do to increase productivity in Pikmin and you like PC RTS games for the mouse, then you should grab NPC! Pikmin. But be sure to buy it from a retailer or something, not used, so Nintendo gets money for it. Vote with your wallet, some of us want Pikmin 3, so please be considerate.

I can.

The quality of these games depends on the eye of the beholder, but the thread calls for cheap but good games and these qualify.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
TimeSplitters 2 (in case nobody saw it the first time)
Muppets Party Cruise (probably the best Muppets game)
One Piece: Grand Battle (cheesy anime fun)
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
SSX Tricky
Dakar 2 (rally game)
Sonic Mega Collection
Sonic Gems Collection

Pretty good little system, eh? Nice console design, great controller, better-than-you-remembered list of titles? Maybe it just came out at the wrong time or something.

Oh, did I already mention Chaos Field? Awesome halfway-danmaku shooter with a lot of features (lock on missiles, bombs, windshield-wiper swords, plane/dimension switching, etc). Should sell for about six bucks and is at least 84% as good as the much more expensive and completely awesome Ikaruga. Actually, Ikaruga is cheap as long as you compare it to the DC version. heh.

EEW Luigi's mansion.

I liked Starfox Adventures, it was basically Zelda with starfox. Wait, is that cheap? I don't know, but IMO it was cool.

Digimon Battle Arena 2 was cool. if you like simple fighting games, supports up to 4 players.

Rampage total Destruction is well, rampage, if you like that. And the cube was the only version to play 4 playered simult.

Picman, both, gather dudes and have them harvest loot or fight badguys, it's a cool game, don't let it's looks foolyou.

Outside of that, most of what I would have reccommended has already been listed a bit.

I wanted to add Crazy Taxi; very cheap.

Also; Riddle of the Sphinx; great game, Zelda-ish, that ended with a cliff hanger for part two, that never came out....

F-ZERO GX! It actually looks better than most Wii games these days, at a constant 60 FPS. Sega must have wanted to make sure they didn't screw up with a Nintendo franchise, and it shows.

Pac-Man vs. is pretty fun. That is, if you have 3 GBA's and necessary cables.

Smash Bros Melee is fine, but the Wii version is better I think (but some people INSIST otherwise).

I would also add Zoids:Battle Legends, Viewtiful Joe,Vector, and Bloody Roar. Plus the think that F-Zero GX which is considered the best by many was made by Sega. I think they should make the next one, I demand a new F-Zero and StarFox, we already have Kirby.

For Pac-Man VS you only need one GBA. If you have four GBAs and cables, Zelda Four Swords Adventures is great; single player not so much. Agreed on F-Zero, Dark Legacy and Baldur's Gate. You will be tempted by Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles... Just say no.

You know, all the games listed are great... But, I have found the Scooby Doo games for the gamecube to be a realy enjoyable experience. I picked up 2 of the versions at a garage sale for my kids and found myself playing them more than they did.

Maybe it's just me.

Sorry, meant to say 3 controllers and 1 GBA. Man, what is wrong with me lately. I've been slipping!
