I'd like to make my 800XL act as a terminal to my Mac - to access the Mac shell on the Atari. I thought I'd be able to figure it out, but haven't had much luck.

My setup is : Atari 800XL -> 850 -> USB-to-Serial (using port 1) -> Mac's USB port

I've tried 850 Express (no data seems to be transferred), and Telelink 1 ("RS232 ERROR: 130").

Maybe my port speeds aren't synched. Maybe the Atari doesn't see the usb->serial cable. Any hints would be appreciated.

Thanks
Kevin

What process are you running on the Mac? Are you using something like getty to give you a log in prompt?

I would start with ZTerm on the Mac end and just see if what you type on the Atari shows up on the Mac and vice versa.

I have a Mac and have connected it to the Atari. Love telcom software. So what are you trying to do?

What kind of serial to USB adaptor do you have for the Mac?
