Even though it won't count I plan on submitting a score for the CD version.

I don't have the cart version and it will give me reason to play the CD version which I haven't really done.

Not the same. I invite you to join me in submitting your CD score though. Winner gets 0 points... I'm making an executive decision on that and I don't even have to run it by Austin.

If you guys want to play the CD version, I will give you the standard "participation" points. How many they will be is dependent on the lowest scoring player on the cart version.

Nothing great but I wanted to at least get a score in. I might try and give it another go later on in the week.

Hey all, this is a surprisingly good game.

I have mine saved at 10,675.

Might pick this back up later, when I'm not playing Batman Returns on the Lynx. :)

Heh...now I don't feel so bad about my score. I would say roughly 75% of the time I have no idea what's going on when I play Hoverstrike. It's impressive that it's fully texture mapped but the controls and framerate is pretty bad. I'm going to try again tonight.

I've finally taken the shrink wrap off this one... this isn't too bad. Like others have stated, I got bored well before game over. The first strange thing are the controls, with their "hovercraft" style physics. This makes turning very awkward (sliding sideways instead of turning), especially when you need to grab power-ups and energy. Other than that, I can't complain. The graphics and sound are pleasant, and the landscapes and enemies are interesting enough to look at. Score to come later.

Speaking of which, the world that we are on sometimes looks like a lunar surface. This planet DOES have an Atmosphere right? Kinda hard to have a hover craft without an atmosphere. :P

That aside, thanks for the compliment on the score. Nice thing about this game is there is a game save option. I think if I had realized that a little earlier on I might have been more careful with my first hovercraft which I think I crashed into a mountain trying to climb over it.

Oh well, bit of a learning curve trying to fly a hovercraft. :)

Alright this game grew on me. Now that I know what the hell is going on it isn't too bad.

If you like this one, you will love the CD version.

Time to start trying to catch you guys up :).

Really enjoying this too. Love the controls - how you can easily setup strafing runs despite having only the dpad. Very nice texturing as well for the frame rate. Clocked in at 30,825 so far.

Started a new game, played straight to a game over screen (no saves, no aborts). Got somewhat stuck on the second mission I tried on Level 2.

Yeah, dusted off the old Hoverstrike... funny, I discovered you really dont have to do much fighting with the enemy, if you just blaze through each level only going for the objectives... Not great for getting a high score, but great for finishing the game ;P

That's usually what I do for the last target  The mortars are also great for "hide behind a rock and watch the radar" playing.
