Im fairly new to the 7800 scene. I was wondering if any of the programming wiz's that post here on AA have ever tried to port over a title like Mega man, ninja gaiden,
or something of that nature? I love platformers!! I am assuming this would be really hard(like basically re-programming from scratch)or it would've been done

I never heard of them, doesnt mean it aint in the mind of a few like ME!

I would love a Mega Man for the 7800.

I would not do a port/remake but something new. But would fit in perfectly with MM2 or MM3.

I really just want to create afew new enimies and bosses.

I would so jump on the chance to do the in game and box art for it!

Others I would love to see reborn or totally original titles on the 7800 are:

Contra...already have some 7800 sprites ready to go!;)
Castlevania....same as above!:)
Aliens
Robotech
Metroid
Alien Storm
Ninja Gaiden 2/3
R-Type/Gradius
Shining Force
Ghostbusters
Final Fight
Any type of Tower defence simuliar to Defense Grid
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors
Street Fighter 2
Transformers
Gi Joe
Tempest

But I can dream!:D

No one has done an actually game of something like Ninja Gaiden or Megaman, but there was a demo of a platforming game found on a thread.

7800 demo thread

There was a bunch of demos from that thread including a platform game demo. None of the demos actually turned into released games by the author though.

I have always been interested in a port of Super Mario All-Stars for the 7800. I sent GroovyBee a message in regards to this idea a while back, and he said that although it is possible, the process of translating the code from a 7800 rom to an NES would be extremely tedious and time consuming. We can always dream though!!

I personally think that it would be great to take an extremely complex and technically demanding current gen games (GTA IV, Super Mario Galaxy) and "port" is over to the 2600 or 7800!!

Sounds like it might be possible. Just how much time would it take seems to be the major factor.

Personally I'd rather see that time spent on new and/or original games being written for the 7800. However, if anybody wants a challenge then go for it.

I'm pretty sure if Mega Man for the 7800 was ported it would'nt be on a 2600 cart....just sayin'. :ponder:

Yep, which is why a unique mega-man style game would be a better option.

I think Apolloboy suggested an interesting hybrid game in the 7800 XM suggestion thread.

Couldn't people just use the link built into the quote? (the main issue was me not realizing quotes on AA didn't carry attachments over . . . and not paying attention to my completed post ;))

Anyway, here's a link to the attachment: http://www.atariage....ttach_id=191584
