So, I was trying to hold off on hooking up the 7800 until the XM arrived, but, I jumped the gun tonight and went ahead and pulled it out. I got to try out some games that I haven't played before, including Tower Toppler. All in all, I think it's pretty cool. It has some really nice visuals, but the difficulty level.. MAN I was not expecting this game to be hard, at all (ok, at least not on the first level, anyway). After playing it for a half an hour I've managed to successfully make my way to stage 2, but that one seems brutal. Does anyone have any tips or helpful suggestions regarding this game?

I remember really loving this game. On the PC. Never had a 7800, but I'm thinking about it.
Is it the one where you basically have a guy climbing and jumping his way to the top of the tower, and the tower rotates?

I remember putting this one away in frustration shortly after I got it.

I don't blame you. I managed to get to the fourth tower, but that was more than enough. I had to put it down for the last few days.

I recently had a chance to play the Commodore version on the C64 Plug and Play, seemed challenging, but fun. I just found it, with a different name, as a Gameboy game on a multi-cart and, again it seems very difficult. I will get the name and post it tonight.

Castelian, I think that's how they spelled it (it was the same name on the NES as well). I wonder how those versions stack up in difficulty. Continues, more lives, less enemies, etc. I should try them out via emulation..

Me too. Actually, ended up selling it. I have it for the Amiga if I ever want to get pissed off playing a game again.

Aka nebulus on the ST. Bloody hard on that too, but I think the 7800 wins on the difficulty stakes

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one that thinks this game is hard as ****. :)

No kidding! There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about games that make us mad. I didn't think I had anything to contribute. I forgot about Tower Toppler. :ponder:

Strangely, I found it tough but not impossible. I beat it at least once.

Yeah, from what I can tell so far, it's one of those games that is heavy on the memorization factor.

Challenging minus Fun = Frustrating. See the following:

Silver Surfer

As frustrating as it is, I play it regularly, so I can hear that awesome music!!!

I thought Tower Toppler was an Atari 7800 exclusive, like Midnight Mutants, i was disappointed when i learned it was not.I agree however that it's a tough game, a fantastic game!!
