Without really trying to it appears I ended up with a label variation on this game. One reads Football, the other reads RealSports Football, but for all I can tell other than that they are the same game. Same goes for Soccer and RealSports Soccer. I noticed AA doesn't list label variations on these, so which is more common and which is not?

They're both about as common as dirt.

Any idea why Atari bothered to change the names halfway through then? I assume it must have gone from not being "RealSports" to carrying the name later, because the 7800 has "RealSports" too.

You are absolutely right about them being renamed from Football and Soccer to Realsports Football and Realsports Soccer. I've never been given a satisfactory answer as to why they decided to go with the Realsports or who came up with that idea. Football is listed in the rarity guide, but soccer to my knowledge is not.

I also have some other label variations that to my knowledge are not listed in the rarity guide. They are:

Space Invaders
Vanguard

Artwork only. No titles present. I was able to find out that they were releaseed in 1986, but were unable to determine rarity.

Funny you should mention that, because I have a Galaxian © 1982 and a Galaxian © 1986, which I +thought+ was past the point Atari was manufacturing 5200 games (I have 7800 games with that copyright). No discernable difference in boot-up or game play on either one that I can see. Seems there are more mysteries to the 5200 yet to solve. :D

Yes...have you been following the 5200 Homebrew 2003 thread? it seems that Sinistar, Warlords, and a more playable Tempest exist out there somewhere. I wonder what gems would have made it into the public market had the 5200 been released when it was supposed to and the great VG crash of 1984 never happened.

You're forgetting about Cyrstal Castles and Elevator Action. :D
