TDF2 level 6.

F.

Impressive score F. I won't insist you play the first 5 levels (unless you want to go for the bonus point). Let's see you on the other games too ;)

2pts per game played plus:
Congo Bongo
1pt per level complete
Deluxe invaders
Game 1: 5000+ 1pt, beating the level (when the invaders go back up) 1pt
Game 12: 500+ 1pt

Space Invaders (you were right no shields!)
Game 1: 800+ 1pt, finishing the level (ship is collected) 2pts
Game 12: 500+ 1pt
;)

Space Invaders
Game 1 (easy): 918
Game 12 (tough): 314, those pesky sideways shots!

Deluxe Invaders
Game 1 (standard): 3,690
Game 9 (there is no 12, 9 is the highest, and strangest): 2,900, those pesky splitting aliens!

Congo Bongo
level 3, screen 1
19,110
I lost a lot of lives on screen 2 due to the strange unpredictable control issues. So maybe all the complainers have a point. The 2600 version has no control issues. But I still like the 8-bit version.

trbb,
thanks for giving me this challenge. If any of these games do wind up in the HSC then I'll have to practice more and get higher scores, but with a nice little head start. However, I'd expect you and deteacher and several others to blow these scores away. :ponder:

I've had a pretty good run at Gwobby last go-round! Made up for a previous good game I was having, when Mr. Gwobby, following a level 6 climb up the rope to get the ring, opted to keep going and continued his ascent upwards and off the screen into the great beyond!! What followed on the screen, which kept running is in the appropriately titled pic below. The endless subtleties of movement, suprises, and random nature/variation of each new level make it a fun and slightly addictive challenge :) :

Made it just shy of level eight:

64,600

I call this one, "Gwobby gets raptured in LINE 251":

atariGSBerrorLv6.png

Another interesting quirk I call-- "Gwobby leaves a Ring", or better yet "Premature Elevation":

Well what can I say :ponder: let's start with a big congratulations to atariron82 for the victory for Gwobby Strikes Back! (and breaking my game... more on that later ;) ) Congratulations to orpheuswaking for winning The Dreadnaught Factor II (although with a crippled hand he could be out for the rest of the season), and I managed to fend off innuendo to take CTetris.

With GSB I didn't limit the movement in order to keep the main loop of code as quick as I could make it, I relied on my gravity kill routine to take care of things, but in the latest version I moved the display list to make a blank like at the bottom so he had room to fall from the bottom platforms and 1 less blank line before the status display - there was a trap statement that should have killed gwobby if he went out of the screen but I should have warned you about this one!!!

I know Hayden has been keeping an eye on things here and is working on a further improved version of his tetris game (called Actris as it's coded in Action) so keep an eye out for that on the forum. Also Fandal is a big supporter of our beloved machine and his games are well worth checking out too

Thanks for playing everyone, we're back to regular classic gaming in Round 9 with Moon Patrol and then we have a bonus round in Round 10 so get your suggestions in ahead of the votes

How long do I have to complete level 7? Are those bonus points good for the rest of the season ;-)

HSC Munich scores for Cetris:
twh - 1753
mlp - 3482
100_2719.JPG

HSC Munich rating:
Comment: The game itself plays actually pretty well. There are numerous Tetris clones which are compared to this one really bad. This one here comes with a nice Hall of Fame and offers some control options which are badly missed by the other clones. However music and graphics are average and maybe it was already too late when we fire up the game, but watching the other guys playing a tetris clone is not very exciting after one or two rounds.

HSC Munich score for Gwobby Strikes Back (deutsche Version):
twh - 10400
mlp - 7200

100_2721.JPG 100_2722.JPG

HSC Munich rating:
Comment: At first we were afraid to play another Bounty Bob Strikes Back type of game. Gwobby however is different. It's actually quite funny! The overall control is fair and the game offers some unexpected platform features. The dead-sequences are funny (although sometimes a bit to long) and the game spreads some "charm" with it's connection to the atariage community. I liked this one very much! A special remark deserves the very nice and strict german translation. Even terms like "Game over" are correctly translated with "Spiel vorbei!" :)

Thanks for the kind words guys, when you get a bit better the death routines are more of a welcome rest ;)
