I have a sweet Atari Deluxe marquee that I would like to put into a light box. Anyone have suggestions on buying an already assemble light box? I am looking at making my own for now. Any suggestions on depth for the light, type of lighting source, & assembly tips? Pics are very welcome! Thanks - HB

The original light boxes used lights that you would find in Christmas trees, at least that's what the Qix marquee was made from.

So, a simple set of 40 lights coiled up inside of the light box would do the trick nicely.

You can also get away with a different type of light for the light box, like a flourecant. Its up to you.

I have to make one for my son (Track & Field marquee). I plan on using a spare cabinet light fixture that I have and purchasing some marquee brackets.

I haven't decided on the wood yet but it'll just be a rectangular box wide/high enough to fit the marquee and deep enough to house the light.

BTW, the light in the eBay auction is too wide. Marquees are 19" wide - Home Depot sells (working off of memory even though I have a half-dozen or so) 15 or 18 inch light fixtures.

When I did my Qix mame cabinet, and powered it off of a power supply, I ordered in two white 12" cold cathode lights that is used in PC computers to light them up.

That did the trick *very* nicely. You can even use a cheap power supply that they use to power drives externally to power the lights.

EDIT: http://www.newegg.co...6-102-_-Product for the power adapter

http://www.xoxide.co...athode-kit.html for the cold cathodes
