It's rather amazing that it has been so long. When the Jag came out it seemed like the 2600 was so 'old'. Now the same time has passed and the jag seems like only yesterday!

Yep, you're right. I still think about Jaguar as a 'last generation' console.
Maybe because Jag was against Playstation and Dreamcast.... err, both near to 10 y.o., too...

Well, Jag is 64 bit and still better than a lot of new consoles
(ok, ok, I'm not impartial!)

[b]The Jag, i think, was the last system that could give gamers more than just 3D graphix. Its still a modern system and in my opinion as well, like you said, still better than a lot of the new consoles....id choose the jag over the ps2 anyway....hell id pick the 2600 over the ps2.
Jag is gunna have its legion of follwers for a long time comin...i think in 2003 the pack will grow

It is hard to believe the Jaggy will be ten...I bought mine in January of '95 and it all seemed "fresh off the press" to me even then, although it was released 2 years earlier, albiet in VERY limited quantities in a couple "test markets." A few months ago on either the modern or classic forum, we were discussing just what should be considered a "classic" as apposed to a modern system. I mentioned that I have a 10 year cut off mark that I go by personally, that is, a console must be at least ten years old to be considered a classic in my book, otherwise I consider it to be in the modern catatgory even if it's not the most current generation. Now, in about half a week, the Jag will be ten and move from my "modern" catatgory to my "classic." Although, technically, one could consider it not quite ten until we come upon the aniversary of it's release date. I will however, not consider it an "official" classic until the tenth aniversary of the Jagcd's release...I certainly can't put it in the "classic" catagory before the 32X add on which is vastly inferior even though it's newer...so as a "system" the Jag&CD won't become a classic in my heart until the Jagcd is ten. I still consider it to be a contemporary of the PSX and Saturn too. As far as I'm concerned, the "next" generation started with the N64 and followed with the DC and the current gen is two generations newer to me, than even the PS2 and GC being the next gen for their respective companies. But things are still blurry with the DC and current consoles... it's hard to say what generation any machine fits into with all the different companies staggering releases of new consoles...

I'm totally with JagHammer on this one, as usual. I still consider it my favorite system, even though my play time is spread out thinner these days among all my systems, including the 32X, 3DO, Saturn, Playstation, Dreamcast and now Xbox. If I needed the cash, every one of those other systems would go before I even considered selling off my Jaguar collection. The DC and Xbox come close, and would be the second and third to last sold, the Xbox going first out of the three. Well, my 3DO is also close to my heart, so the DC and Xbox might go before it, but it'd be a tough choice, especially between the 3DO and DC which are pretty much tied for second place in my heart.

Long live the Jag! Just the fact that ANYTHING new is still coming out for the Jag, homebrew, unfinished or other and the 3DO, Saturn, N64 and possibly the PSX(anything new still coming out for it?) are completely DEAD as far as new product, who really outlasted who? market wise the Jag failed, but it's still breathing as far as software releases...

I Agree with Gunstar and JagHammer

JagHammer: I'm from Reggio Emilia, northern Italy (as you probably know, in Calabria there's another "Reggio", Reggio Calabria!). And yes, there's other italian guys that love Jag - other two also here in forum -, but not so many as in other countries. Probably because here in Italy Jaguar wasn't really launched from Atari.
