I was thinking they were overdue for a price cut. I thought they'd be a bit more aggressive ($129) but it's still a $50 SRP drop and they're adding in a popular game so I'm sure it will cause a lift over what we've been seeing in recent months.

That's really awesome, since MK wii is the game I most want to try for the system.

Does it still come with wii sports, wii sports resort, and the motion plus controller, I wonder?

edit: no, to the sports titles, but yes to the plus controller. Also includes nunchuck and wheel. Nice setup, and I wonder how much a used copy of the sports titles could possibly cost anyway since everybody has them. I'll think this one over.

Looks like I'll be picking up a second Wii in the future.

The $20 titles look fairly appealing too. I've always wanted to play Twilight Princess. I probably only want to play it $20 worth, and I have a long history of disliking 3d zelda titles, but I find the art style far less repulsive in TP.

Smash brothers brawl is also on the $20 'selects' list--a game which I'm unsure that I'll like, but it looks more fun than most of the other titles on the console.

I'm not stupid for seriously considering this a worthwhile bargain, right?
If so, blame Sony.

Here's more at ArsTechnica. It's so tempting now to pick up a spare. Decisions decisions. And am I the only one who's thinking that a stand-alone Wii Sports may be a "rare L@@K" game in the future?

Hasn't Ebay made that a standard button for all sellers of video games to click on when describing their game? :P

Look at all these 'rare' games:

Wow, I might have to consider picking up a spare. I still don't have MK so this would be the perfect time!

Cheap enough to grab a second one. The Wii is great for emulation and I'd like to have a second hacked one upstairs.

I'm surprised the original Wii Sports still isn't included. It's such a big draw for the system and I assume most people buying this will be new to the system. And there's not a standalone release that I'm aware of that's available new, except perhaps directly from Nintendo through their online store.

Nintendo is releasing it as a separate title in their "Nintendo Selects" label for $19.99. It's also always been available as a separate title in Japan (as it was never a pack-in game over there I think).

Ill be picking one up. I haven't had one in over a year and I've missed out on quite a few games that I've wanted to play.

If you're trying to do weird scientific experiments with the three Wiis, like exploring the origin of the universe and all that, you might be crazy.

I don't know where you live, but the Wii has been $150 (or more properly $149.99  ) for the past 3 years. Well, when did I buy mine? well, since 2007 :P

The old models were knocked down to $150 when they revised them for a new $200 bundle (System + Wii Motion Plus controller + Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort). If you found one for $150 prior to that, you were probably lucky.

....and now gimme $99......and now $99......

They need to match the PS2 price. Then I'm buying and going to the pawn shop for games.

Agreed, but someone needs to lower the price of the PS2. Why is it still selling for $100?

Exactly. Sony needs to start selling PS2s for $50. I'd definitely pick up a brand new spare for that low a price.

I hadn't heard of the "Nintendo Selects" line until this thread. I assumed it was some revamping of the defunct "Player's Choice" games, which I missed. But, the selection is subpar... Zelda and SSBB, sure... and even Animal Crossig is fine, but Mario Super Sluggers? WTF? And yet, no Metroid Prime 3? I'd understand if they didn't want to make a "Selects" edition of a game that's selling for $50, but is it really better to let something stay OOP than to turn a buck on it? Geez...

At least it's truth in advertising. These are Nintendo's selections, not what the players would choose.

$299 these days, and I just got a gamestop coupon for $100 off, meaning another price drop may be on the way.

Yeah, with all the major screwups and problems that Sony is having right now, I'm not shocked that they would be offering a price drop or a rebate. :ponder:

That depends on what bundle you're getting. Normal PS3's are 299, but the ones packed with Move are still 399ish. I'm probably going to be picking up a 360 today if they have any in appropriate condition at Game Stop. Planning on picking up a 4G model since I don't give a flying flip about Live and the games I already have bought are primarily offline single player games. Game Stop seems to have 4Gs on sale for $130 again, at least the one near me does.

Yeah, because there's a law that says you have to play Party Babyz if you want to play Mario Kart or Metroid.

If we ruled out every system that had one single waste-of-a-concept game, we'd be left with... ummm...
