Well i just heard about this and I think some parts of the story are real while others are not(ex. People having suicidal thoughts). But I played the remake and it does give you nausea at least me anyway. Anyone care to share his or her thoughts??

I've looked into this quite a bit, and although the story is very intriguing, I have come to the conclusion that it is all quite baseless. All of the evidence put forth so far points to the smallest (and I'm talking microscopic) shreds of truth wrapped up in a really good folk tale.

I would guess that it relates to the fact that in the early versions of Tempest, some cases of epileptic seizures were reported. Take a quick media spin and a game of telephone line (did you hear that bobby was at the arcade and...)....voila! 30 years later, it all makes sense!

I agree, there aren't many details here, but with what is out there, it sounds like a campfire tale for gamers. Not a hoax, but rather a runaway story that has had 30 years to build up into what it is today. I do love that legend tho...so X-Files!

That being said...someone did email me the game in a zip file once. I was too afraid to open it up and try it myself tho. Not because of the mind control, but more because it probably has some kind of virus embedded in there! More of a 2011 fear than a 1981 fear...or should I say more nortons rather than men in black!
