I picked these up last weekend. The Buck Rogers works great but needs some body work. I hope I can find the side art for the Buck Rogers. The Donkey kong Jr needs cabinet repair, console, and a cap kit in the monitor and audio board. I bought both for $175. This should be a great project for the next couple of months.

Wow. That is an incredible price, even with the minor repairs that are needed.

I think if I were to purchase an arcade cabinet, I would want something like my brother(Cynicaster) has. He built, from scratch, a nice cabinet that houses a cpu (MAME v122), keyboard for inputting, two 8 way joysticks with 6 buttons each, a 4 way joystick, trackball and a CRT monitor. The idea of being able to play thousands of different titles on one machine is overwhelming. I am hoping to start construction of my cabinet this summer.

Until my cabinet is here, I use this handy little console to play all of my arcade classics:

I do like those Tank Sticks. The thought crossed my mind to mame those and after checking both out I said no way. I think they should be restored. I'm not sure where I can find the side art for the Buck Rogers. But I will keep looking.

If he built it from scratch - that's good. If you do that to a classic arcade cabinet then that's desecration. Only terards put a coffee table for a control panel on an e.g. Millipede cabinet.

Out of curiousity, how did you troubleshoot the audio board and how were you planning on fixing it? Thanks.

Did you try Gameongrafix? I went to that guy to print custom art for my machine and the product is top notch.

Don't worry, no desecration. Even if it wouldn't have been desecration, the project wouldn't have been any fun if I used a cabinet somebody else designed and built.

The way you worded your original post I thought you were saying that you were going to put a cap kit on an audio board. I have never heard of that. Thats why the question.

Nintendo monitors (Sanyo 20EZ) include an audio board, and yes, there are electrolytic caps on it.

Here is a link to a supplier for the T-molding. They have the specific molding for Nintendo cabs. I just ordered some stuff from them and it went great!

And if you want more authentic nintendo t-molding, a guy on the klov forums had it reproduced and you can get it from his website here: http://www.chompingq...ries/t-molding. People on the klov forums have been really happy with it.

If you have a particle board cabinet with an "offset" t-molding slot (i.e. slot is not centered), he is currently getting this style reproduced as well but it's not yet available.

So, it's common practice to put a cap kit on those boards? And can you tell me an audio board that does not have them?

Hey neighbor! I'm not sure how common it is. Probably fairly common on the 20EZ's since it gets lumped in with the monitor chassis. I haven't had to cap any of my nintendo games though.

Nice to see a local arcade enthusiast. Do you go to Ground Kontrol often? My friend I just went today. The 720 controllers are completely broken (like usual) but everything else we played was working great. I went 2 hours on Asteroids only losing 1 life. My buddy dragged me away to play Joust. Anyway, I hope they get another Berzerk in there, I want to get at least in the top 3 scores.
