My recent good buys all from used game shops:
Star Wars for Game Gear, $5
Spyro Year of the Dragon with 3D cover, $13 plus a trip ALL the way across town to get the disc
Command & Conquer 3D CIB and I think there might be a little mint left in there. $10.

And the last one probably wins the bad deal of the year award...
$30 for a bare 32X with the teeny tiny Genny 2 cable and the Genny 2 spacer. I won't be needing the spacer since I certainly don't have a Genny 2.

This is the thread for me. :)

I made 2 great thrift finds recently:

At Goodwill- A second edition Genesis, 1 32x unit & 3 6-button controllers (and 1 standard) for $10 and 12 games (2 32x), complete, including Mutant League Hockey, @ $2.99 each.

At a random rural junk shop- 2 vader 2600s, 1 joystick, 66 games (some with instructions, some with boxes, some both) & 1 display case for $60.

Good stuff, but I won't rest until I find an Intellivision in the wild.

THose sound like pretty good deals. The trouble with the 32x is all the fiddly cables that you need. The 32x games are a bear to find, but that's okay. Not that many are worth thr trouble. ;)

Good luck on the Intellivision. I can count on one hand how many I've seen in the wild, yet I've found tons of the games - and mostly in boxes with the little overlays!

Last weekend I found three 2600 carts at the Salvation Army for $0.99 each. I basically bought them because its been forever since I've seen any Atari stuff in the wild. Just commons, Superman, Outlaw and an unlabeled Parker Bros' Cart that turned out to be (no surprise here) Frogger.

Nothing today at garage sales. Just a loose Xmen vs. Street Fighter for the PS1. Oh also I finally got a 3DO. I don't know if he wants me to say his name but here's what it looked like before cleaning.

Nice lookin' 3DO and you got a front loader! I only had the top loader but I always wanted a front loader so I could use the Mpeg adapter. I've always felt the 3DO was an underappreciated system.

Anyway,
I went down to the sacred store where I got 2 vader 2600s days before....

Did some digging & found a beat up old box that turned out to be a carrying case for Intellivision games with 18 loose games, including Pitfall, Master's of the Universe, 3 Imagic carts & 2 copies of Donkey Kong, but, alas, no Intellivision system was to be found.

The box, 18 games, 2 overlays for a game that wasn't one of the 18 (Basketball), and Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack (box-cart only, bringing it up to 19 carts) set me back a whopping $13.

The woman who sold me the atari stash days ago remembered me, told me that her husband had been looking up prices on E-Lame and felt I was horrifically undercharged. I just smiled & asked how much for the intellivision games (they thought they were 2600 games. *nerd rage* ).
What else could I say? I got the better end of that deal and I know it, they now know it too.

I just hope they don't ruin their store (and my primary hunting ground) by using Ebay as a price guide. Maybe I'm worrying too much, though; I mean, they didn't know the difference between atari 2600 & intellivision games, and the loveable idiots slashed the prices on the INTV carts when they found out they weren't 2600 carts because they only think 2600 games are collectable.

i gotta get a cam...

Today I got a Gamecube w/ 2 controllers, mem card, and Mario Party 5 for $20.

I would love to post a pic of the arcade cab I mentioned earlier, but my camera isn't working. I'll just say we got a very nice BloodStorm Cab.

They had a whole bunch of Intellivision and 2600 games, all boxed, but they wanted $5.99 apiece for them....not one of them were Super Spike Volleyball either....

Last Saturday a picked up a Pelican Universal Dance mat for $1 at a charity garage sale. It's the kind that can be used on the GC, PS2, and Xbox. They had two of them for $1 each. I should have taken both of them.

This past Saturday our last garage sale stop was the best. A lady had a box consisting of a Playstation One origianl system with A/C adapter and A/V cable (no controllers), a Playstation Performance V3 FX Racing Wheel 2, and five PSone games - Grand Theft Auto 2 (complete), Soul Reaver Legacy of Kain (complete), Resident Evil 3 Nemesis (complete), Dino Crisis (missing instructions), and Medal of Honor (CD only). She wanted $5 for everything. Since I have a Playstation One, Soul Reaver, and Medal of Honor, I offered her $2 for Resident Evil 3 and Dino Crisis. She agreed then sweetened the deal as I was getting my money. She said I could take the entire box for the $2. The lady knows how to bargain.

Everything works. The Playstation system and steering wheel needed a lot of cleaning. I'll be keeping the steering wheel and the Resident Evil 3 and Dino Crisis games. Everything else I will attempt to trade at Disc Replay or Play-N-Trade.

I got a Pole Position upright cabinet for $50 off of Craigslist. The outside looks great but the inside looks like hell. It'll probably be the first cabinet that I have to prime with Kilz on the inside...

Slim pickings today :(

2600:
Pitfall
Megamania
Frogger
Target Fun (Sears)
Zaxxon

INTV:
Q*bert

And a Sears Baseball instruction booklet to go with my Baseball game.
$12 is more than I wanted to spend, but I guess the booklet, Zaxxon & Q*bert is worth it. Plus, I get to fill in my collection a bit. I'll keep my eye on the place since she has 3 more sears games w/ instructions, but I was disappointed today.

I hope I find better stuff this weekend.

Here's what I got:

Morgan Silver dollar 1880 - O, VF. Was EF after cleaning. I bought it for $24, another guy offered me $30 for it, but I didn't sell due to the fact I didn't have a nice Morgan.

Mercury Dime 1941, EF. I already had several Mercurys, but this one was clean and in great shape. Bought for $2.50

Viewtiful Joe w/ Viewtiful Joe Red Hot rumble $10

Official PS2 controller $1.50

And that's it :D

!@#$$!#!#$@#%&&*%&$ GOODWILL!

I hate them. I hate them so much!

I'm walking into a goodwill today and I see 2 Apple Macs near their donation area in the back. I ask if they are for sale and the a-hole (he was rule) told me that they were "ewaste". What???

Me: Can I buy them?
Him: You have to talk to the manager inside.
Me: Were they even put on the shelf?
Him: No, they are ewaste.
Me (confused): So, what, do you guys get credit for them?
Him: No.
Me: So can I just take them?
Him: No, I can't have you just walk up and take them. You have to talk to the manager inside.

I know this store, they suck, the manager is never to be found and they are usually busy with one clerk running the register.

Forget it. I'm not a Mac guy. If it was a //c, //e or IIgs I would have tortured myself to contact the manager. I now know ewaste is a collectors nightmare.

(On the brighter side at a Flea Market (yeah!) I got a TG16 w/ AC, RF, Bonk's Adv, TurboTap, 1 controller = $5!)

If I found a tg16 setup for $5, I'd have a really hard time giving a crap about a couple of Macs in the back of a Goodwill unless there was something special about them.

I wish I hadn't sold my Turbografx...

Good deal for $5. What did it come with?
