I made a playable mock up of an idea I made while I was asleep. I was dreaming I was making this game, so I made my dream a reality, as soon as I woke up I started on this. The main idea is you are standing on a bar that is moving up and down, and the idea of the game is to go to the right opening without getting squished. If you do get squished, you'll start back at the beginning of the room. Right now, there are infinite lives (actually, no lives system at all.) If people decide they like the idea, I'll make it into a full-fledged game.

For me, it has all of the excitement of waiting for an elevator. Not my kind of game.

The difficulty of the mazes (or whatever you call the room layout) would probably make a difference in how fun this could be. The first level is too easy. The second one is better.

In regards to what Random Terrain said about waiting, he's right that you go too long without having to do anything. It might help if the fire button would speed the bar up at points where there isn't any maneuvering to be done.

I think this is a good start. Although, I agree with RT, that in it's current state it's somewhat boring/easy. I think if you added some sort of enemies or obstacles, or maybe even a timer, it would add some level of tension. Is it possible to make the playfield a bit more intricate as well (and also have many different boards)? As it stands it's a bit too easy.

Added a few things, like the fire button to speed the bar up, as well as to start the level. Now, the bar is missing when you first enter a level so you can recognize the pattern of the room, and pressing the fire button starts up the bar and the level.

I think to capture the excitement of getting squished you should take a look at Dino Smurf

What you have here so far is a good start for a section in an adventure game me thinks..
