I found a 5200 on craigslist today for $20, they said it comes with 4 controllers, 11 games. Its a 4 port system, but it does not come with the AC/RF box. Should I buy it?

Yes, that's a good price.

I would. Even if all four controllers are a bust, a little care and cleaning would have them up and running again. It's quite likely the 11 games are all commons but there might be a Zaxxon or who knows what rarity lurking in there. Worst case with the r/f box you could get one fairly cheap from ebay or another collector here.

Yes. Great deal even if DOA. The chips are worth that much.

Not really because the rf box is like 20 or 30 on ebay. They are not cheap. If it was 2 port then you don't need the box. But 4 port needs a special box and they are hard to find.

You don't need the AC/RF switch box. A simple mod to the 4-port circuit board lets you use a separate power supply.

Yes but not everybody is good with electronics and soldering.

I agree, I did this mod on two of my 4 ports and it's a fairly basic mod.

Shipping a 5200 is pretty expensive.

My opinion of the 5200 is that it's a labor of love. You may have to do a little work to get everything ship shape. That being said, $20 is an EXCELLENT starting price. If I had $20 I'd buy it! :)

Do you have links for instructions on how to do this mod?
