I recently found my old Lynx II and wanted to play my games on it. However, when I went to play it, things kept freezing and the A, B, and directional buttons didn't work ( I was thinking of opening it up and taking a look inside, but I can't even figure out how to open it. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Sure: remove the two long rubber strips on the back of the unit, and you will expose some philips-head screws. Remove these screws, and you'll be able to get the two halves apart. You may also need to remove one screw inside the battery compartment.

Be very careful with the wiring which connects the two halves, especially the flat ribbon cable. To completely separate the two halves, you will need to manually disconnect each cable and remember how to put it back together.

One tip for joypad issues: get a pencil eraser and gently rub off the oxidation that occurs between the rubber pad and the PCB. Be careful, of course, so you don't damage the circuit traces.

Have fun! I've taken apart many Lynxes although it's been a year or two since I last did so.

Yes, I did that a few weeks ago and was surprised how easy it was (compared to other handhelds). No "unusual screws". Cleaned the screen from internal dust and reassembled it, all in all in about ten minutes.
