Nice one Jacob! Man, I'm having trouble coming close to my beast score. Game is tough at advanced levels. Personally, I don't find the smart bombs very useful except for one small incident I can remember. It seems to be more detrimental to your playing overall since you have to quickly go to the other joystick. When I got my 77K+ score, I didn't even use any the whole way through.

You can put the other controller on the ground and tap the button with your toe. :P

I got this one using only one stick while testing controllers last night. Slight improvement. :)

Beat out some twin galaxies on this score,
Ahhh! That was not easy. I might be done with Stargate!

Some weird tips...

I was sick of getting 70 to 79ks range today so...

I tried something different after reaching around 50ks, I sat my ship still this time... the waves became too fast to rescue everyone, I just stayed low, and shot out the green aliens from one single screen tapping (left, right) keeping two people safe as long as possible. Even staying just high enough for a green alien to "take" the person up, then shoot his arse down will get good extra points from people landing down safely. Only worry about the green aliens, forget the stuff that can be shot down later, just dodge, shoot, use toe if near!

I also used smart bombs, and invisibility on the pink fly looking things, so I didn't have to move much, everything else, I just would fire and hope for clearing a round.

The game becomes too fast to fly around and save people, which is why standing still worked well, and added me an extra 20ks!

60,900 - a little better each day... looks like at least 70K is needed to be anywhere competitive.

Man, my game crashed with a score 79,300 I had 4 guys left and the game decided it didn't want to work anymore :x couldn't take a picture because the screen turned all black and wouldn't go back to normal. Anybody else have this happen to them?

Just what kinds of "humanoids" are we saving here? They have green heads, survive going through warp gates when they sit beneath our ships, warp us ahead if there are four of them, and EXPLODE when they drop too far! Oh, and the planet disappears when they're all dead. Just what are these guys?!

80,850 no picture because my camera battery was dead. Made it to Wave 12 and it's all luck after wave 10.

Thanks. After wave 10 the game was so fast I was just flying and praying. Even staying still is very hard because they can run circles around your ass and your ship is so sluggish when it comes to turning. This game is very fun for the first 10 levels, then it goes into bullshit mode which ruins the fun for me.

zylon, that is genius! I've got to try that as I'm having a lot of trouble using both joysticks.

Still not great, but this is the most success I've had with a Defender game (including the arcade). So, I'm feelin' good about that and having fun. :)

What I did was turn the other stick so that top is facing my left. I can activate bombs with index finger and can just bump the hanging stick left or right against my knees for inviso or hyperspace. All without taking my eyes off the screen. I got a 25% improvement that way so imagine what you folks could do. :ponder:
