This is probably the last time I'll play this one. It hurts to say, but the 2600 version is the best I've played thus far.

Interesting contrast to Stargate at 2600 HSC.

I'll be able to play this on the real hardware by this upcoming weekend.

Just for fun(sort of...), I played every home release of Defender I have in the last 2 hours, not counting compilations.

I played the Amiga version of Revenge of Defender before. I didn't know there was a C64 version too.
I think i'm going to give 1 point for posting a score of any different version of Defender,
as long as there isn't a High Score Club for it here on AA like C64, VIC 20, Amiga, Apple II, MSX, TG16, X68000, Vectrex.

I never did find a C64 Defender cart in my travels. I do have a TI99 copy I could play once. I'd love to get rid of those Ti's. I can see why they're always "left" here.

I'll take scores for TI99. I've never played the TI99 version of Defender.
I can't figure out how to use the Classic99 emulator.
I can only play the 16 games that are built in like Car Wars and TI Invaders.
You say your Ti's are "left" here. Do you find alot of Ti carts out in the wild?

What about the 5200 version heheh,

This game is good but weird... I hardly ever rescue people,
most the time is a speed trigger shooting fest!

I like how you can shoot down green aliens quickly and easy... but
the debris makes it hard to see where the danger is! :P

There's even more debris in the 5200 prototype Stargate. fun game. :)

Not so many carts but I got a stack of those systems that get abandoned here. Currently 3 complete in box and one loose one. All working too.
Here's my TI99 play and I gave 5200 version one more shot before scrapping.
TI99- 36,400
5200- 28,475

I do have the A8 Stargate proto. :)

Its really been quite a while since this one was played, back when Darthkur made that epic score. Excellent score btw  JacobZu7! It takes a real pro to break even 100K in 5200 Defender. I believe you're in safe territory unless the 'champion' makes a long awaited and triumphant return.

What makes this version difficult are the flying saucers, which appear out of nowhere and almost on top of your spacecraft. They're a huge pain in the butt and nearly impossible to get enough clearance to shoot. Also frustrating is dying for no apparent(visible) reason, esp. right after hyperspace...*boom*! Not a very useful function.

I felt pretty lucky to make it this far:

I had a few goes at ROD the C64 and Amiga versions.
I'm not doing too good at this game.
I keep shooting the things i should fly into, the blue or red thingys.
I'm not sure what those things do anyway.

Perhaps I can help there. That's one of my favorite time-killing games. When you shoot some enemies, they turn into powerups or more shield energy. The elaborate backgrounds make them harder to see on some levels.
BTW as promised: 1 more play of 5200 Defender :(
33,475 Dag! I'm terrible at this one.

Big fan of Defender here... one of my first 'true loves' of video gaming. I also love this port, but so far it's not being quite as easy I remember (if still MUCH easier than the arcade game.)
