I was just out west of a couple weeks, and got a chance to visit the Startup Gallery in the Albuquerque Museum of Science & Natural History. It was awesome - all the cool stuff from the book "Hackers" was there for you to touch or examine up close.

Here's the whole gallery of pics: http://imageshack.us.../hpim1693n.jpg/

Here's me "programming" an Altair. It was so cool to be able to flip the switches yourself:

I got a chance to play an original version of "Spacewar" (although in hindsight, I'm not sure if it was actually running on the PDP or an emulator).

And here's the source for "Spacewar":

Very cool! This must be a rotating display at the ABQ Museum, as I've been there before and haven't seen it. Or at least maybe I didn't go into a certain room or something! LOL Looks like they have a 'NOT FOR SALE' stickered IBM PCjr release -- and to boot, it's one of the 2-3 jr games I DON'T HAVE! :x Maybe they will take offers on it!! I should contact them and see if they'd like to add a couple other disks and sets to the display for the PCjr.

I should keep my ear to the ground more for people in the area to meet (or in this case, those who are visiting)! If you're ever back this way and want to hang out and play some Atari goodness, maybe participate in some wine snobbery, let me know! :D

Heh, I'm always up for Atari and wine snobery (or just a glass of whatever). Don't know when I'll make it back again, but I loved Albuquerque and New Mexico in general. We spent just over a week circling the state, then headed off to Utah (Zion & Bryce Canyon).
