Electronic Arts goofed up and sent me a second copy of Generations by mistake. Oops. Their bad. They didn't charge me for it either. I listed it on eBay starting at $1.

How do you charge shipping for it, though? eBay says the maximum shipping I can charge is $4.00.

I do not want to put it in a pouch.. I like boxes.

A small flat rate priority box is $5.20 and Delivery Confirmation is .70 cents.. that's $5.90.

Even if I pay online the charge would be $5.00.

So, then I tried not flat rate box.. around the same price.

So, then I tried large envelope. It won't even give me a parcel post price for that!

What do you do?

In the end it really doesn't matter since I got the item for free, the left it on my doorstep so I can say I never received the second copy.

I ship items with boxes in small boxes surrounded by peanuts. In general the post office is getting over on you if you use flat rate for lightweight items. Just go parcel post if its less than 5 and if it isn't then buy a small flat rate box sticker online through paypal and it will come with free delivery confirmation. Ebay only lets you charge so much for "shipping" for each different type of product. As long as you sell it for 2 dollars you should come out on the plus side of the equation.

use the shipping calculator. Just "over size" your package to compensate for delivery confirmation or package materials. I sold a shit ton of CDs last year in 1 lot, and ebay said I couldn't charge more than 3 bucks, even though it actually cost 56 when all said and done. I didn't use the calculator then, but i plagued my description with he flat rate of $25, and thats what I charged. I should've used the calculator.

If it's under 13 oz it can go first class, which will be less than $4.00.

And remember the new fee on shipping, so you may have to calculate that in order to not lose money.

I used to list in different category, since my shipping is international, there´s no way I could list with the limits on the category, I remember using Bulksale lots or something like that. There´s the freight option, but I didn´t seemd to be very good.

You're focusing on using priority flat rate shipping which is the most expensive way to ship. IMO, it's only for heavy items or for convenience...outside of that it's a waste of money. Otherwise go for first class or parcel post. Or just ship it non-flat rate priority which is almost always cheaper.

Atarigal is right on target. I can ship Sega Saturn games CIB in long boxes at just under 13 oz if I use a small and light box, so you should be fine, to...

The USPS is doing a great job marketing their flat rate boxes and getting a lot of people to use it due to the convenience. It has its place, but I prefer not to pay for flat rate shipping when I buy or sell due to the cost.

BTW....I didn't think the new fees on shipping were being charged until like June 16th.

The most common item that I sell is carts, be it GBA, N64 or good 'ol VCS. I always charge $2.98 for a single cart, and will combine shipping in some arbitrary way.

15.00 Systems lots also w/ combined shipping

Ships only in U.S.

Epay has gotten stupid on the fixed shipping rate issue as of late. It makes it difficult to ship gaming items I have sold. I hate selling on there for this reason alone.

Yeah, ignorance is part of it but mostly I suspect greed.
