Thats great news - the '2600 Adaptor' lets you use real atari joysticks or paddles under emulation folks - I guess if you have stella already you could sell that on towards the cost of this gizmo

I'm surprised that that 2600-daptor works in paddle mode with Altirra. That is good news.

For anyone who's interested, the procedure in this link worked very well for me, though I did have to do it again about a year later.
