Just a quick question - why aren't Activision ROMs available for download? I had a mess of those games when I was a kid (and was particularly fond of Space Shuttle) and can't find them anywhere. I've started to rebuild my collection (found a two-port and a couple joysticks) but it's hard to find the real cartridges, too. Any idea where I can find ROMs for download? :? :? :?

It's because activision asked the Al's to take them down, because they are currently using the roms for new projects for the new consoles (PS2, XBox, GC)..

Not legally, no.

This took all of 30 seconds to find...

More roms there than AtariAge had.

Did Ken Love ever mention if the newest Activision compilation was bound for GameCube? I would LOVE to own it but I'm not buying a PS2 for it. I do however own a cube. Anyone know?

(I think they'd be foolish NOT to put it on every single console and PC platform).

FYI - just visited www.theoldcomputer.com and checked out the Activision ROMs. They don't work. They dump, flip, crash, etc etc. Any other ideas?
:?: :?: :?:

I tried Chopper Command and Space Shuttle...both downloaded fine. Are you left-clicking the links? Use save-as, instead.

Left clicking but just saving. Will try the 'Save As' and let you know shortly...

Nooo...I meant right-click and pick the option Save Target As. Or right-click and press A on the keyboard. Left clicks are the same as Open Link...and don't work everywhere.

he only seemed to mention XBox and PC as future possibles. Search for 'KLove' in the user search in the forums to find the thread

No luck. Tried it and still flips, dumps, etc. Whenever I jump during Pitfall (which is almost immediately) the rom crashes. DAMN! :x

Pitfall works fine for me using Z26 (though really slow on my 486 computer)...what emulator are you using? Is the rom named pitfall.bin or is it named pitfall.bin..bin? The second one might cause problems with game profilers. Try renaming it.

Using the Jum52 v0.7 emulator, and the files are *.bin (no duplicates, etc).
Do you recommend a different one? If so, where can I get it? It has to
work on Win NT, though..... :ponder:

Here:
http://www.theoldcom...oms_summary.htm

There's another page with .A26 format roms, as well.
BTW most 8-bit emulators also do the 5200...I was partial to Atari800Win.

The 2600 *.bin's work fine. The 5200's are the one's giving me fits. It may
be my emulator. It's hard to find one that doesn't crash Win NT. Any
suggestions for an NT 5200 emulator that WON'T crash?

Since I have no experience with WinNT...I don't think that I can. But Atari800Win DOES work with NT, so you might want to try it out.

BTW You might want to ask that question in the Emulation board to see if others share your pain.

Yes, but that's 2600 roms. I'm pretty sure the author of this thread was looking for 5200.

The Atari800 emulator seems to work but and the Activision ROMs are
performing as advertised except for Pitfall :x It seems the START button
(F4) won't work. Everything else does, though..... :D

The start button will only reset the game...you still need to press the firebutton or move for it to being IIRC.

Still no dice. The crawl at the bottom states "PRESS START TO BEGIN" and I do and nothing happens. I jump - nothing. Move - nothing. Jump AND move - nothing. Any ideas? Every other game seems to work ok...
