Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Hopefully they will show the E3 coverage for today more then once so I can record it, this is awesome. Plus on top of that they have already said this game is the first of another three part series so we still have Halo 5 and Halo 6, which they say will also be on the Xbox 360.

This looks pretty sweet. The first Halo is still by far my favorite in the series. It's really showing its age these days though so it will be great to play it with spruced up textures and effects.

I sure hope they don't go about re-engineering any of the levels. I have this sinking feeling that The Library will be dumbed-down for all crybabies. :P :(

looking awesome...

though to be truly faithful to the original Xbox Halo graphics, it needs to be 4:3 at 640x480. in this game, it's the Halo graphics played via the emulator on the 360 so it's 16:9 widescreen with upconversion of the resolution.

I'm not sure if I like the idea of using Reach's multiplayer (I was really hoping it would be just like the original, balance issues and all). MS has the right idea to an extent though--if you want to play the Anniversary multiplayer maps but don't want to buy the full game, you can purchase them as DLC for Reach.

there's going to be a new Reach update that makes a number of changes. of note for me, the armor lock no longer pops stickied grenades off your body. AND... the pistol is going to be closer in strength to the original Halo 1 pistol!!!!! now, the pistol was seriously neutered in Halo 2/3/ODST. but in Reach, it had the right balance. Halo 1 pistol was so seriously friggin awesome but way too powerful.

One of my friends asked if I was getting the new Halo game and I said HELL YEAH. Then they started taking about5 the anniversarry stuff and I was like...oh...no. Fuck that. I mean, I already have four copies for my four original Xboxes from way back. Why would I buy the game, dumbed down to "unreal's" graphics? I like the quirks and look of the original game. I know they are going to just screw over the original game (whichby the way, I'm still playing....a hell of a lot more than any of the newer ones I have)

Looking forward to 4, new story line (or continuation, or whatever) but I don't see any reason to get "CE Remade"

for one thing, you have system link co-op campaign now! as well as all the online play, including playing against Reach players so the universe is bigger. My friend and I still play halo 1 via XBC and Xlink Kai. but the population is dwindling and you really need a lot of players since Halo doesn't have bots.

and I think they added firefight... horde mode is probably my favorite game mode of any game type. Gears of War 2 forever changed my gaming life because of its invention of horde mode.

Hey, I actually liked the Library. What people didn't like about it was, well, yeah it was a bit repetitive, you basically did more or less the same thing for four floors, but mostly people didn't like that you had the flood, well, flooding out of the walls and ammo was all of a sudden more scarce, forcing you to adapt a new play style from what you played the first half of the game with. Hey, it sounds stupid, but this was new and revolutionary for it's time. Kind of like the massive levels with narry a load time anywhere, and being able to seamlessly use vehicles.

I get a kick out of modern day people getting the game and trying to "act" disappointed. I mean, stop trying to compare it to games 10 years newer, stick with what was available for the time and you can really see the thing shine. Of course, that truly is beyond some people.

Why yes. Yes I have. Have you actually played any of the games? Part of what made Halo CE so damn much fun was the feeling of free roaming it had going for it. The exploration. Part of the reason the newer games feel like your playing "in a hallway" is because of the limitations of the unreal engine. In order to give you a level as big as the first game did, you would have to have lockout points built into the game. You know, points where you pass here, and are no longer allowed to go back. This drastically shrunk the game, and is part of the reason the first is often so regarded as the best of the series. Outside of the campaign is where people will even mention the newer ones, but you know what? Without bots (which halo still doesn't have) the online death match crap is to me, just that. Crap. It may look purdy, but you know what? Looking good isn't everything.

I would MUCH MUCH rather play, I don't know, some looser unheard of game that also uses the unreal engine, has bots, is much faster, and allows you to modify your character with meaningful mods rather than just pretty pictures. Don't know if you've ever played it, it's pretty underground and the name is practically unknown. The game is called Unreal.

Outside of death match, which I'm sorry, not everybody in the universe worships, the biggest draw for Halo CE (redux) would be to play the original campaign. And you know what? I don't see it working.

Of course, it might be fun to play ratrace 16 players with rockets and grenades again  fun times there.

What are you talking about? None of the Halo games have utlized any iteration of the Unreal engine, so I'm not entirely sure what the point of your rant was. If you are dissatisfied with any of the Halo games after the original, blame the designers.

To anyone else, the remake will be identical to Combat Evolved in the single player department, and the option is even there to revert back to the visual styling of the original, on the fly. Pretty cool stuff if you ask me.

Quit acting like a child. You always get like this in this forum.

To answer your question, yes, I have played the Unreal series. I began on the original and also started on Unreal Tournament (UT '99 as it's referred to these days). I also played a lot of Quake and Quake III during that time period, and most first person shooters that came prior. I was there at the launch for both UT 2K3 and UT 2K4, owned Unreal Championship on the XBOX, and was one of the very few regular supporters of Unreal Tournament III on the PC, which I just stopped playing in the last six to eight months because the community is dead.
