It's my Berzerk clone, for just 80 glorious Xbox live points! Check it out! Its for all you Berzerk-fans that don't have a PCE/TG-CD in your possession, and still need to play it!

yay!

I figured Atari-people would dig a 1$ Berzerk clone with hopped up graphics, and music along with the sfx. :)

If anyone is local to the cleveland area, I will have it on display at the ccag show also!

www.ccagshow.com

its 3$ to get your nerd on, all day, June 18th.

I'm confused, what does Berzerk have to do with the TurboGrafx 16/PC Engine? I'd love to play it on there, but it was only ported to the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, and Vectrex.

This is the Arkhan's homebrew version for that platform :-

Hmmm, I think I have a spare 200 left, so I'll pick it up. What else am I going to get for a dollar?

Did someone say something about a burrito?

I tried it. Is there any way to turn off the music? I didn't care for it.
Big player character + small corridors + sensitive controls = frustration.
It just doesn't have the playability of Berzerk.

I second that! Would love to see on either ps3 or even the wii. Any chance of that happening?

I grabbed it and liked it. I for one like the tunes, and while the controls are a bit frustrating on the analog side of things, it's much better with the D-pad.

As far as I know, neither Nintendo nor Sony have an equivalent to the Indie games that Microsoft offers on the XBOX Live Marketplace. If you guys want to hate on M$, feel free, but that's a point for them against the competition.

I don't hate, just wish the game was more available on other systems.

are the links dead? they don't work for me. i'll check this out. I loved this game for my 2600! It was one of the first games we ever bought.

*edit* I just looked at the screenshot on xbox.com. How is this a berzerk clone? It looks like space invaders.

are the walls electrified? looking at the screenshot on the website, it looks awfully narrow to navigate the corridor

That they are. Better hone your precision movement skills.

i guess it's worth a try. one more question... is it the traditional berzerk controls? or did they go with a 2 stick system a la Robotron or Smash TV?

Oh. I upgraded to php, my bad.

GroovyBee caught it for me. I've been away from the forum for awhile, so thanks for that.

That other game called Insanity is not my game. Someone else made that. I almost wish I'd released under a different name now. -_-;

I didn't go with any two stick nonsense. D Pad + button = success. I did find that the Xbox 360 D-pad blows really, really, really bad.. I use a DOA fighting stick now. It's better.

I did make it so you have some wiggle room between the corridors. You can overlap just a bit before dying. It's not too awful once you get used to it.

I've also left in a funny wall-glitch while you are invulnerable. It's a bad idea to use it, but it was fun and funny, so I left it. It reminded me of something in the NES bomberman where you can make yourself start exploding, but you ultimately die when you let go of the button. You CAN use it to immediately exit rooms from the same way you came in, once you get good at it. So, if a room scares you, flee! >:]

If anyone else feels like grabbing it, I'd be curious about some more feedback. The Indie marketplace is like, dead in the water. I don't really have the manpower to market this stuff so good. I'm just one loudmouth goon from Ohio.

I made everything from scratch. The art, the sounds, the music, and the code..

the only thing I had help with art wise, was someone else did the title/gameover pictures, and someone touched up the animations, because I really blow at art.

but, this was my first venture. I didn't want to involve tons of people if everything folded on itself.

www.aetherbyte.com/atl.php is my current project. As you can see, I strutted my stuff well enough that I got a real artist. No more ass-ugly games from me!

If enough interest sparks for it, I want to do this for 360 also.

I'd love to go for PS3, or PSP/Vita, but they aren't too open about development. :(

Anyway, it's only 1$! Consider it a donation to future indie development of retrogames if you end up hating the game.

Here is a video of myself playing it at a local convention last year:

I do regret a few of the rooms I made though. Especially that one with the 1 tile walkway around the whole thing. What a stupid idea that was.

The best room is the blank one. Everytime you drop into that one, you basically pee yourself.

PS: There is a boss-battle if you can get far enough.

I should film it. I don't think anyone really knows about it.

Pardon the bump.

If I can get at least one more download, that'll be 69 downloads, and then I can laugh to myself.
