Hello all first time on the forum. I just hooked up my 7800 and found that my official frogger has the sound and main screen but not the cars or frog. Anyone know why that is?

How old is your Harmony? There were some issues with Supercharger games on 7800s in early BIOS versions but these were fixed. If you have an old BIOS (I think 1.03 or earlier) you should update it.

No, formatting the card wouldn't matter.

It could be that you have the PAL version of the game. That would explain why you hear the music but don't see anything on the screen, as some televisions will not display PAL games.

Either way, can you post the binary you're playing? I'd like to try it out on some of my consoles to see if I can replicate the issue.

Can you post the binary or tell me where you found it? I have a number of 7800s (some with known problems with Supercharger games) and would like to test with the same binary.

Official Frogger, The (1983) (Starpath Corporation, Stephen Harland Landrum) (9) (AR-4105) ~.bin

What are the others? Since it only happens on your 7800 it is probably an incompatibility issue of some kind.

If it works just fine on your 2600 then just play it on your 2600. :)

Not all 7800s are 100% 2600-compatible. (So says the FAQ.) Some hardware revisions were just different enough so that some games just won't work.

As for the in-depth technical reasons behind why, someone else would have to answer that.
