Having recently reinstalled VbB on Windows 7 64-bit, I am having problems. The compiler is working just fine, but the playfield and player editors are not working.

All the blocks are black, and I can't seem to change them to white. I can only change row #6. At first I thought it was an issue visually, and that it was still editing the playfield when I drew on it. I looked at the notepad view, and it showed no changes (besides row 6).

Any way to fix this?

I have posted a picture of what it looks like, if that's any help (no changes on row 6)

Did you visit the Troubleshooting section of the VbB page yet?

Tried what you had up there. Still not working.

When jwierer sees this and figures out what is wrong, I'll add the fix to the Troubleshooting section.

After reinstalling twice, and fiddling with several settings, I just gave up. Anybody got any ideas?

Somehow it looks like you setup the background and playfield colors to be the same. Have you tried making sure they are different?

Oh, I feel like an idiot now.

Yes, the background color was somehow changed to black, and somehow row 6 pixels were changed to white. I have no idea how it did that.

The latest WIP builds work differently, but the most recent published build was dependent on the colors being different. If the UI won't allow you to change it, I did post a registry fix here that will reset it to the default settings.

It let me change it. Everything is working fine now. Thanks.

So was it the registry fix that made it work?

Nope. I just had to change the colors inside the playfield editor, and it fixed it.

OK, thanks. I'll add that to the Troubleshooting section.

Oops. I guess I can't update the Troubleshooting section until I know a little more. You said that you couldn't change the colors here:

Can you explain what you couldn't do and how you ended up being able to do what you couldn't do?

With the information I have right now, I'd have to say "if you can't change the colors of the sprite and playfield editors, just change the colors to fix your problem." I'd probably get death threats if I did that.

What I meant to say was:

I initially thought I couldn't place playfield pixels in the playfield editor, as it all remained black. I discovered it was because the playfield background was set to black, and so were the playfield pixels (except row six, which was set to white).

Bad initial wording on my part.
