I tried making an emulator for the Magnavox Odyssey with bB and failed miserably. But enough about my failures, I bet this is doable based on my attempt. I'm not talking about the Odyssey^2, I'm talking about the original one, the one with two squares, a ball, and maybe a strip down the line. Yes, that's how horrible of a programmer I am if I failed at that. The main problem for me was how to make the squares move for a fraction of a second after the player stops moving. The way I imagine it, is fire is the serve. If you have fire held in and the ball is in play, then up and down can be the English. If you're unfamiliar with the Odyssey, then I recommend you download ODYEMU here. There's different "cart" settings and stuff. I hope someone takes this on because it would be a definite positive for the Odyssey community, however small it is.

Simulator, not emulator.

Just hack Video Olympics?

Video Olympics doesn't look like the Odyssey graphics. The paddles are square, the background is black, and there's 12 different carts to simulate. A few of the carts have a white stripe going down the middle.

There are plenty of hacks that don't look or play like their original. V.O. is an adequate starting place if it's too much of a bother to create an Odyssey simulation from scratch.

On the other hand, such limited gameplay is the easiest type of homebrew to create if you want to roll yer own. A good starter project for a beginner...with or without bB's help.

I have stumbled across something of a much more complete emulator for the DS

Worth a look for people interested in the Odyssey as it is in a far more advanced state than Odyemu currently is.

I've begun work on an Odyssey simulator for the 2600.
Right now all I have is players 1 & 2 movement. Most of the programming is getting the squares to slow down and not come to a complete stop once the joystick is not pressed any more. Tell me what you think of it so far.
