i have no clue.

nintendo fans will pay ridiculous prices for rare nes games. but how much would they pay for a virtual boy prototype is beyond me. and is it a legit proto or a dump? a prototype with a label doesnt feel right.

I bet the guys over at NintendoAge would have a good idea of what it's worth, if it's real.

This thread at Lost Levels might be useful as well.

Better hang on to that - looks like you have maybe the first one found in the wild. How'd you get it?

A) having a Flash Boy, I'd love a copy of the rom. B) However, the best way to make money IMHO on an unreleased game is to release it and do it up with a box and everything. If you did that and offered a nice digital copy along with for Flash Boy users (easily verified ;) ) that also buy this release, you would probably make more than just unloading it to a collector. You can always do that second (it won't get you as much) but they usually get locked away and no one gets to play them. I'm all for collecting, but proto-hoarders make me

It's one of a few I made for some folks in the Virtual Boy community. The original source code was re-compiled correctly and the game is 100% perfect / complete now.

I was just wondering what price would be achieved if any of them showed up on EBay.

Are we talking loose, or would you do the whole package?

Depending of timing and total cost I would love to have one of these you have made up for my collection. I really need to pay more attention to my Virtual Boy collection in total.

As to what it would sell for, I'd say more then a buck and less then one hundred billion dollars. I personally always find the prices these kinds of things go for a bit crazy. While they are being made they can't be considered classic (even if they are for a classic system) and they can't be called rare (even if they are) because you could make more of them at anytime. They don't appeal to the completionist because they aren't original, and the homebrew scene is even stranger to me.

All that said, I know there is a cost to making these things, and there is a value in the code for these things. Both of those things should be taken account of when selling them. In the end its just about how much profit you feel you have to make and if the buyer is willing to pay that much for the item.

Reproductions aren't allowed on eBay, although several have been slipping through the cracks these days..

Jack Bros. is supposed to be the hardest to find American release on the VB, I thought.

Technically it is still since this game was never released. ;)
