Well, I worked on this for the Atari Party Expo in Davis, CA that I went to. I played it for a while on my Stereo 128k 600XL.

Hope you all like it. =)

can we have an MP3 for those of us who are temporarily seperated from our hardware because we're working? :)

Not really. I'd bet , if the name wasn't there, no one would recognize the "original" tune.

I disagree - it's recognisable and pretty damn good by all accounts. I reckon if I was picking an 8-bit soundchip to port this tune to I'd probably choose the pokey because the whole tune is driven by that hard-edged bass sound that it does so well. The SID would probably be too smooth (although you could probably get around it with the 8580 mixed waveform), the YM too bland and the NES triangle bass is nearly nonexistent.

I know you've worked hard on all these extra tools for making instruments, but sometimes the simpler tool is the right one for the job

pardon me, but aren't I supposed to be the negative one, being part of the super-seekrit C64 illuminati sent to destroy the A8 and all?

someone did good, although not necessarily in the way you would've done it. give them a bloody break already!

Why do that - if he'd spent only 5% of the time he devotes to constantly putting down other people's work on coding, he could have the magical tracker he so desires. I guess it's much easier to talk shit than to actually do shit

Good point. Have you conrtibuted something good anyways? I only see you writing comments....
It's not MY devotion to putting down other people's work. If you get it this way, it's your problem.

Particular this tune is the worst by "KJMANN" the whole "floating" of the original is missing. And' it's 2 POKEYs , so no limit there with the channels. RMT is there aswell...

No I haven't contributed anything because I have said in the past and I will repeat it. I have no musical talent. However, I am not the one who bashes every single contribution by others on this board. If you think you know it all about the Atari and can do everything better, start posting working code rather than ideas or "should have blah blah blah". Contribute code or stop contributing shit talk. I think everyone would be happier then.

P.S.
kjmann - tune sounds good.

Very funny when reading the context. You blame me not to contribute things, while I always contribute working examples to explain my ideas ... not only writing the bold word ;)
And you do exactly what you want other people NOT to do.

No it's not the same. I have never bashed your work, I've often been one of the few to compliment it. I don't talk shit about other people's bad code at my job either. If I think I can do it better, I just do it.

I won't clog up the board anymore after this, but it does get annoying that EVERY single time somebody posts something, you complain about it. If someone posts a demo with 10 colors on screen, you tell them it looks crap because it should have 12. If they post a tune, you say it sucks because it doesn't use digi-sounds. It gets a bit old after a while - there are very few people left doing anything on these machines, why keep crapping on the few that still do?

wtf. I just entered this thread to download and listen another stunnning KJMANN arrangement.

And ofcourse a new pile of sh*t is coming over my screen.

My suggestion is: everybody who is talking sh*t: PLEASE LEAVE atariage FOREVER.

People that can't behave normal/polite: you are no good, and definately do not belong here.

Get lost.

Thanks
M.

p.s. I really like your version KJMANN. Well done!

Empty words. Because you have bashed some of my "older" experiments. But that doesn't matter to me.

Yes, I see. You firstly go to the places to enter the resources, then you build a factory and all machines to build a computer. Then you write the operating system and build the needed software then. Doing everything alone ;)
Answer me one question, please. Why do you know "to code". Just by grabbing the air?
I assume, you learned your job in a dedicated environment ;), and you know what to do, because you have learned the cause for doing it that way.

You have to see it from two points of view.

1. Some people do not recognise the Sun even when staring towards it.
2. Some people feel annoyed by the bright light of the sun wherever they look at ;)

And, please, do not put your words into my mouth, thanks.

I just want to see stuff that shows the real possibilities on the A8. Just look at the latest stuff EAGLE did. This is some extraordinary stuff.

If you're tired, go to sleep.

It's a good thing that events like the ABBUC contest happens every year. It shows what's wanted and what is not.
Sadly, people do not learn and only get angry and do not understand what happened. Explaining it is like bashing to them.

In Dutch there is a saying: "Het is de toon die de muziek maak" ... litteraly: "It is the tone, that makes the music"
