Hi everyone, I have a question about this Lynx:

As you can see on the pics it is colored pink. My first impression was, that it is a custom painting because the captions under the Buttons are missing (maybe overpainted). At the backside you can see some scratches and the black groundation under the pink color, also at the battery compartment.

But look at the sticker on the back: the serial on it is missing and it says "Made in Taiwan". So I wonder why its different from other Lynxs. Heres a normal Lynx for comparison:

Waht do you think or know about it? Is it a clone?

The original lynx was a painted plastic cover and the paint could be removed to reveal the smooth plastic underneath. Also as a result the button legends would also come off! Some people removed the paint so that had a more personalised lynx, some also did it after the paint became chipped to stop the machine looming tatty, so what you probably have is a regular lynx with he paint peeled off.

For a second I thought its a "he" editon, but oviously, it looks just like a painted one.

Made In Taiwan??

The Lynx 1s were all marked "Made In Japan" that I've seen.Lynx 2s had Taiwan and/or China on them. :)

I have several Lynx I that are labeled "Made In Taiwan"; It's nothing unusual.

I wonder why the Lynx 1 was painted instead of just molding it in the right color. Was it cheaper to use some other color of plastic or a mistake in the production run?

Legend has it that it was a matter of cost.
Donīt forget, it is not just one production run either; itīs not like all Lynx I systems were produced in one large run that could have a mistake. They were built in Japan and Taiwan through the years, with minor changes between runs, yet still the issue with the painting remains.

It must have just been a little bit cheaper that way.
