I got a 7800, not to long ago, with a working pro line and a broken pro line, the working one I made the joystick tighter, and it might be more responsive, but i still feel like a brand new proline might be better or should I get a brand new 2600 joystick?

I dont want a gamepad, i have a sms controller and I dont like it for arcade ports, (I have higher scores on the pro line against the sms controller).

Another question is what lasts longer a new pro line or a new 2600 joystick?

Get a decent joystick. I love the 3-button sega arcade stick they made for the megadrive/genesis.

(and it's not a gamepad that you don't want, it's the SMS gamepad that you don't want. Megadrive pads are great. SMS' are shite.)

Are the megadrive controllers Atari compatible without modification?

Agreed, but it doesn't have the two buttons necessary for some of the 7800 games. I wish there was a version of the CX-40 for those 7800 games. I've seen those "evolved" CX controllers, but I am not sure if they work on these games...anyone have any insight on this?

I think I will look into buying a sega genesis arcade stick, but everyone I see is used, and im looking for a brand new one. I guess I will have to wait.

You'll have to wait backwards; they aren't getting any newer.
