Does anyone know if there are 2 different Q*Bert labels commonly made by Parker Brothers for the Colecovision? I have a gold (normal) label and also came across a silver label last night while doing some orgainization of the game room. It looks much like the 2600 label with the larger Q*Bert graphics but I have tested both and they are both Colecovision games. Anyone have any thoughts?

Yes. I have both varieties as well. AFAIK it's pretty well known that there are both a silver and a gold label variety for that cartridge.

I have the 1 piece box from 82 or 83 when I got it as a kid and it has the gold/beige label not the silver label.

So this is either the other way around or it just doesn't hold up as the standard.

I don't remember seeing a silver Q*bert sticker. I saw a silver frogger awhile back amongst my loose cart collection and thought I had a variation...till I looked at the end and realized it was a 2600 cart.

OP will you post a picture of the 2 carts please?

Yeah, not to say it can't vary, but I'd always considered it to be a rule of thumb that silver label was Atari and gold Colecovision. I've never even bothered to look at the connector end shape on silver label carts!

The 1 piece box was release after the 2-pieces .... however its possible to get a beige cart in 1 piece box

Here you go. As you can see, each has the overlay slot on the back. My silver label happens to have the front part torn off. Thinking about reproducing it.

Thanks for the pic. Now I am kind of wanting the Silver label version.

Thanks for the pics! I got the pics made of mine, just haven't had time today to dump them to the PC and then post. Too much yardwork to do! Your pics are pretty much what I got (except for a complete label on my silver :P ) Weird that they changed up the label. I wonder if this label is simply the 2600 label thrown on there to save money at some point in the life of the game?

You're welcome! Yeah I found both Q*Berts at a thrift store probably over 10 years ago. Always been wanting to reproduce that end portion of the silver label, and I thought about scanning in the one from my Atari 2600 version, touching it up, and re-printing it. I've compared the two (although difficulty to accurately do this while the labels are still on the carts), and they look quite similar. Not 100% sure though, that they are indeed printed from the same process.

The silver label Q*bert cart for the CV is rare. I would probably want to find one if so.
