Because of the campaign, I see that Monado (Xenoblade Chronicles) is now in the top 10 on Amazon (LINK). Not sure if these type of numbers will have any sway on NOA's decision, but it is interesting.

Here is a trailer for the game:

Xenoblade Finally Confirmed for a North American Release

http://www.zeldainfo...an-release.html

In a customer service response to one of Destructoid's regular readers, it was confirmed that Xenoblade, under it's original title of Monado: Beginning of the World, will indeed be released in North America.

everybody already knows the game as xenoblade, why release it under such a meaningless title? hoping to bury it?

Other members of Operation Rainfall didn't take that too well. They claim Zelda Insider was never a reliable source to begin with, and it's not real confirmation. I agree with them on Zelda Insider, but I wouldn't say that's NOT confirmation of the game coming to the US.

But, we still have The Last Story and Pandora's Tower to get.

Europe is getting a Xenoblade bundle that includes a RED Pro-controller! (this would go nice with the Mario Anniversary Red Wii). Nice!!

Operation Rainfall seems to have been a success as Nintendo took notice and said it will release an official statement regarding OR today.

Whether its good news or not for those who want these games, I think its GREAT that there was a grassroots movement that caught the attention of a company and gives me hope that maybe more companies will pay attention to what their customers are saying.

I had hopes that at least ONE of the three games would be localized, with Xenoblade being the prime candidate since its English translation is already done. Or that Nintendo might at least let someone else pick up the distribution, such as X-seed or Atlus.

But to just write off all three games despite a customer base that is clamoring for them shows me that Nintendo really isn't in touch with its customers, despite their insistence that "Wii put U in the game".

And I'm sure that there will be no chance that the new Fire Emblem will see release here, either...Grrrrrrrrr.

I don't know... Nintendo does some good things and has some great titles. But this decision to not bring Xenoblade, Last Story, or Pandora to the states plus their insistence on having a region lockout on all their systems is really moving Nintendo to the top of my s**t list.

In fact, it wasn't an update at all. They just said the same thing they've been saying. "We have no plans to release those games at this time".

They didn't even say if they attempted or are attempting to release those games into North America.

Latest rumor comes from the Rainfall group themselves as they believe that NOA will announce that two of the three games will be released in North America this fall: the Xenoblade localization is 100% complete and that the localization of The Last Story is underway and part way done. No word at all on Pandora.

I don't know, I just think that NOA kind of... runs itself like N of J. Like the japanese, they communicate in an odd way (to americans). It's not at all unlike them to deny something vehemently right up until they announce it.

I don't know, people do not like to hear the truth sometimes, what he says is a lot more realistic than the Nintendo fanboys would like to believe.

Yeah, but money squeaks. I really want these titles myself... load 'em up! but business realities determine what happens in the game industry. If people really do vote with their wallets, their ballots will count. It's getting harder and harder for companies to profit from titles. Lots of firings, studio shutdowns. Piracy is part of it, the down economy another... I know on my side, at this point in my life, I wait until a game is cheap used or in the bargain bin before I shell out. If I'm still playing atari over thirty years after it was released, I THINK I can wait another year for (red steel 2, no more heroes 2, sin and punishment, arc rise fantasia, whatever) to drop to 19$, 15$, even 12$. Are they still making a profit off of me?

That's why they hate the used market. It really is hurting them, but I think that's an inevitability until all-digital content comes. Which will be soon, which makes me wonder why companies are bothering to attack the used market on the disc and cartridge front - those will become irrelevant.

That guy in the video displays such a condescending attitude that I only made it thru 3min before hitting the STOP button. The only joke here was that guy's video.

A well reasoned and well voiced argument against Operation Rainfall was made by Nintendo Everything in an article that reads....

"When the trailer for Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon was released, people got incredibly excited. The forums burst with people talking, and RPG fans were rejoicing that they’d finally get a great game to play. When it was announced that the game wasn’t going to be localized, the response was far from happy. I was personally very upset, and it seemed like the entire Wii community was very sad that this game wouldn’t be seen stateside.

Then, after months of complaining, game publisher XSEED stepped in and said “Enough is enough.”, vowing to localize the game, and localize it they did. It came out in March of 2010, to mixed reviews and sales of 100,000 units after a year on the market. I bet you that XSEED wasn’t feeling too happy about this one, after the mass e-mail campaign used against them similar to OpRainfall.

That’s not all, though. Let’s look at the sales of other games in similar genres:

Arc Rise Fantasia: 100K

Little King’s Story: 120K

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn: 250K

Rune Factory: Frontier: 120K

Looking at sales of RPGs on Wii, things just really aren’t all that great. Fragile, a very sought after game, sells 100K, and even a game with a huge name and solid reviews like Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn only managed 250K? Sorry, but if you were asking me to make a business decision based on these numbers, I’d say “Hell no.” and never think twice about it. Trying to sell a core RPG in the Wii market is the equivalent of trying to sell car insurance to a six year old. He just doesn’t care about, nor understand, nor have any use for, what you’re selling him."

The author closes the article with.....

"So here’s an idea: Let’s start something called “Operation Smart” where all of you guys go out and buy Fragile, Little King’s Story, and Fire Emblem new.. Hell, they’re only like $30 a piece now, right? I’d be willing to bet that a 200K boost in sales for each of those games would change Nintendo’s mind.

Oh, you won’t go do that?

Uhh…"

The full article can be read by CLICKING HERE

I see absolutely nothing wrong with letting a company like Nintendo know that you want a product. And an organized campaign carries much more weight than a lone voice.

But I also see where Nintendo might refuse to invest big $$$$ in releasing titles that they will probably see no profit from.

Neither side is wrong when it comes to these three games.

Yep. I played through every minute of fragile, but it took a few pints of blood to do it. Bought arc rise and TOS new dawn too, even baroque. If tales of graces ever shows up, I'll fork out the cash, and same with xenoblade, pandora's, whatever. But... I don't expect anyone else to. I love the wii and rpg's but rpg's on the wii aren't that great so far. They're just not. That's one of the many reasons they aren't selling. Arc rise is... pretty good; undercooked. As good as most tales games. There's so much potential here, but an RPG is a huge commitment. So many staffmembers, so much translation, so much game content to change and rewrite. I feel lucky that the system even got the ones it has. The DS seems to be a better proposition - there are boatloads of the things on it, some of them pretty damn good.

Xseed has done some brilliant localizations of RPG's for the PSP with titles such as the Y's series, Lunar, Tactic's Ogre, etc. I bought, played, and enjoyed them all on the PSP, but if these titles would have been released on the Wii, I would have bought those versions instead as I prefer the big screen to the small screen.

Yet I have to wonder.... if these high quality titles had been released on the Wii, would people have bought them??
