According to the KLOV:

"Capcom, the Vulgus maker, released 208 machines in our database under this trade name, starting in 1984."

I would say that it is pretty uncommon.

That's incorrect. The 208 machines refers to the number of titles released using the Capcom name. If you look up 1943 you will see the same info.

Corroded batteries are the worst. I just bought a Qix board not too long ago, it just did a memory check and that was it, they never installed the battery in. From what I read it needs the battery to boot fully... and I don't have a Qix cab to install it in, and to get it working as a Jamma board, its going to take a LOT of work... so I never got around to fixing it yet.

I looked on the board and I found the spot where the battery used to be, and it looks like there isn't any corrosion anywhere other than around the actual battery contacts. I hope its all ready to go. :)

:? I wish I understood!

I know virtually nothing about arcades other then; Funner then the console version usually, that there is a lot more to worry about inside, and that I know almost nothing about them

I need to learn the ways of the mysterious arcade..I need to conquer Vulgus.

But seriously there is a lot I don't know about them. like all the terms/parts/ect

I am hoping this project will teach me a lot about it because so far I really do like owning my own. It's awesome and now I want to own more of them.

But I am gonna be good and finish what I have started with this Vulgus

Anybody a member over at arcade-museum?

Apparently you have to make a donation or be recommended by an existing member.

I will be more than happy to make a donation if I am able to get help of some form.

But oddly enough on a lot of forums members hate "noobz"

Hopefully its like AA over there and not be rude about a new member asking questions.

How far have you gotten into the project?

SNK generally rarely used side art, being that they pride themselves in the 4 in 1 snk cart systems. That cabinet does look beautiful though. :)

It does look awesome! But I have seen 2 now that look completely different

The one on klov I actually like better with the wood-grain (could be my atari love shining through :P )

So far what I know for sure:

1. I have the wrong bezel, Mine is for scramble.
2. 2 player mode does not work at all. Seems like it detects the buttons hooked up to the board. Only reads 2 buttons instead of 4 (even though I see no need for 4 buttons at all with only one joystick)
3. Control board artwork is a generic SNK one
4. Coin mechanism is most likely dead
5. Needs a battery? for saving high scores (I hope It needs a battery, I want the high scores to save)
6. I am determined to make it look good, even if that means making up how I want to make it look (if I can't find or reproduce the proper artwork)

I'm assuming the 2 player issue can be fixed buy running a second set of wires to use the same buttons for player one and player two. I'll find out tomorrow thanks to a 4 day weekend :)

i'm not entirely sure..

this thread says:

"Until we can implement some code we are writing, we will approve new members who either (1) have a recommendation from an existing forum member, moderator, or administrator, or (2) makes a donation of $2 or more to the International Arcade Museum Library via the link on http://www.arcade-museum.com/library/, or (3) is associated with a public museum, an organization we have a relationship with already, an organization with significant standing in the community such as an employee of a major videogame manufacturer, or as otherwise determined by a moderator or admin (if you are a normal user/collector please refer to the first two methods)."

it doesn't say how or where, the damn trolls ruin things for everyone :x

That would work if 2 player mode is alternate people playing. Judging from what I seen from the sticks, it should be that way.

The artwork and things, that's just something that is going to take time to get it all done. It'll look great when it is though.

I'll try this game out on MAME tonight to see if it saves high scores.

It is alternating turns :)

The artwork shouldn't be too bad once I get a positive identification on it, along with some really good pictures

The MAME would help a lot. I Love/Hate MAME at the same time. 80% of the time I can't get the damn game I want to work to play. To me it is very confusing. But then again I never spent much time with it to learn how it works.

I've done a couple dedicated arcade setups, my favorite being my old Qix machine. That ran off of windows 98, had a vertical interface that was controlled by the joystick, just pick the game in the list, and ran purely in DOS. It was pretty plain but it worked beautifully. I wish I had those still but I do not... but I have mame working perfect on my desktop. :)

I'm slowly trying to learn and understand MAME after this project I plan to make a MAME machine. I was planning on making it soon, but then I stumbled onto Vulgus :)
