I am thinking about buying a mint condition Atari 2600 heavy 6-switch in the near future and I would like to know whats the average price they go for?

I found this auction on ebay but I think its a lil too much.

I think it really depends on quality / condition, completeness (original controllers, manuals, switch-box and power supply) and most importantly if it is boxed (matching serials and all). If you just want the console by itself, I would say expect to spend anywhere from $50 for a real fixer upper and as high as $80 for a decent deck. Once you get into the original accessories and whatnot, it starts to climb.

Keep in mind, the $50 to $80 price range is based on dealing with collectors here in the marketplace. Out on eBay, you can expect to pay much more for much less (more often than not). Occasionally, you can get a great deal, but I never count on it. H6'rs are becoming harder and harder to find in the wild, as there were much fewer of them made. If you aren't in a rush. I would just keep my eye out and post a thread in the WANTED section of the marketplace. I would imagine a good seller might have one available. You could possibly ask the golden ax. He is a great seller and has these from time to time!

Bid on the ones from sellers that don't know what they have.

Here's one with goodies that says nothing about heavy sixer:

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 1107095066601?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=110709506660&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

Here's one with goodies labeled as a Vader:

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 1706608376951?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=170660837695&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

Here are some cheap Sears heavy sixer paddles:

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 1107096515831?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=110709651583&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

Here's a cheap CX-10 heavy sixer joystick:

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 3207200020571?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=320720002057&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

You just learn how to identify the parts you need, find sellers that don't know what they have, ask if the picture is of the actual item for sale, and figure out what free extra goodies you'll get in lots by just bidding on the heavy sixer parts. The best deals are the one's where you don't type heavy sixer in the search.
