Hi all,

I 1st bought an Xbox 360 in 2006, then it broke around 2010 (RRD); then on Christmas I got one but it was the one with a 4gb built in. I just bought New Vegas and it takes too long to load between doors, and stuff, just like Oblivion.

Is there any way that I can take out the hard drive out my old xbox 360 and use that to make the games run load faster?

Cheers,
Yan

Yeah, I did exactly the same thing. You can get the "necessary" hard drive caddy for your new unit for about $5 from chinese resellers online.

Can you show me a $5 hard drive in a link please?

I looked at my old xbox and the hard drive is different from my new one... My new xbox is a slim version, and my old one was the original... Ebay has a bunch of brand new slim hard drives for $50 a piece.

I believe he refereed to the caddy only to use your own hard drive from your old 360.
You would need a transfer kit to properly copy everything over properly though.

You can remove the old hard drive from the casing and put it in the Slim via the case OldSchoolRetroGamer linked to from dealextreme. To do it properly you need some Torx sizes 6 and 8 screwdrivers though.

Also in that video the kid is careful to remove that harness that's attached to the end of the drive and you don't need that for the 360 Slim. It connects directly to the hard drive which is just a 2.5in laptop drive.

You won't need the transfer kit to do this.

I have only the ninja turtles game downloaded to my 4gb slim xbox.... I can lose that and my saves no problem... I just hate the loading times when I open doors!

Ohhhh... That $5 thing is just the case! I need a whole hard drive for the slim... I almost bought a case thinking it was the hard drive. :D

Why would you try to put two hard drives in your slim 360? You said you already have one from your 2006 model and you want to use it with your slim model. You would use the $5 caddy, not a new, second hard drive.

Oh, so I can fit my 2006 model hard drive inside a slim hard drive case?

you don't even need a caddy. how often do you move your game system? just put in some padding so that the hard drive is not flopping around.
