I know there are a few Amiga fans here, so I thought I'd mention it..
http://www.kickstart...ocumentary-film

They are working on a documentary for the Amiga..
They already have quite a few good interviews done/lined up....

They are at 75% of their funding goal with about 13 (12? I should check.. ;-) ) days left....

I was watching one of the Mac documentaries on Netflix (and enjoying it, although I'm not Mac fanatic) and thinking that the Amiga could use one as well.. ;-)

If you're interested (or know someone who might be), consider it...

Or not.. Just thought about it and figured I'd post...

p.s. For those not familiar with kickstarter, you choose to donate. They don't charge you until (if) they reach their funding goal.

Just an update and some info..
Update, 10 days left and they need $3800 or so to go...
So I'm pretty confident now!!

And for the info:
(I'm going to sound like a PBS fund drive spokesman here)
If you donate $35 or more, you will get a copy of the DVD when it's released.
So, it's not like you're donating to get it made, and then you have to buy it again...
Not sure that was clear when I posted before...

p.s. I am an Amiga fan (obviously), but also for other platforms. If this works (high hopes), I would think it could be a model for an Atari documentary... There are lots of clips about Atari game systems, but not much on the Atari computer series (video wise)... And I would be equally interested in that.. I love documentaries.. I even liked the Mac ones.. ;-)
OK, back to your regularly scheduled tech forum.. ;-)

Donated of course, and...

...it's going to happen! The needed funds were raised! :)

Yeay! As of today, there are still 4 days left...
So, if you were holding off doing this because you thought it might not happen and didn't want the hassle...
Now's the time!!
Yes, they reached their goal, but the more they get, the better the documentary.
You could wait for it to be released to buy it, but if you "pre-order" it now, you will get it when it's done, and you get to think..
"Hey, that extra lens flair as they were cutting away from Dave Haynie.. I paid for that one!"
:-)

Anyway, can't wait!!
Of course, I have to as he now has to get the rest of the interviews and put it all together, so it will be a bit..
But still...

:-)

p.s. As a side note: Atlantic Monthly had a story on the top 20 kickstarter projects. Many were documentaries, and all raised at least $100K, so this one is a bargain! :-)

I have seen the MAC story, and always wanted to see Amiga story, this is why I contributed.

That's exactly what I did...

Anyway, as of this second it's looking really good:
449 Backers
$29,346 pledged of $25,000 goal
5 hours to go

--------

So, it looks like they'll come up just a bit shy of $30,000..
Not bad!!
I have to admit I liked the Mac documentary, so I would love to have at least the same type of feeling after watching it..

I would be much more interested in an Atari ST story.
