Hi there!

From official sources it seems Xevious will follow Excite Bike and Urban Champion most likely comes in 3rd.

But is there anywhere a confirmed list of the other upcoming titles to be released in this series?

I'm especially interested in infos regarding if/when Mega Man 2 will be part of it :)

Greetings,
Manuel

They should just 3D-in-ize super mario bros 3. Just because you know the fake die hard NES fans would go crazy and be opt to buy that (in my opinion) silly system.

Why did they ever think having 2 screens was a good idea! The only practical time Ive seen it used, was to select a pokemon attack... but at the same time, why do you have the 4 buttons then? This problem still bothers me.

... but seriously, what good is two screen? Most games try and connect the screens anyway, living a HUGE gap, making playing the game twice as hard as it should be.

---------EDIT---------
I looked at you profile picture, and it confused me. So I went to wikipedia, and looked up Infogrames Entertainment. Reading the brief history of them, they seem to constantly be losing money, how the hell do they keep buying companies out if they are such a mess with their money? Is it true that they are buying good companies almost to bring them down with them?

Thats what I got from my 5 minute glance at wikipedia.

There was an article on Kotaku yesterday where a Nintendo rep stated that they were having unexpected problems making 3D versions of the classic games. The rep listed Xevious....

"The moment we made Solvalou float in midair, all sorts of discrepancies arose. For example, when an enemy on the ground fired at Solvalou in the original, everything was on the same plane, so it didn't seem unusual if the bomb appeared at the same altitude as Solvalou the moment it was fired and then hit Solvalou right away."

"But with the Nintendo 3DS system, Solvalou is floating in midair. If the bomb suddenly appears—zhing!—at the same altitude as Solvalou… We were like, "Huh? Something doesn't feel right!" (laughs) Everything was off!"

They said that 6 3D titles are coming but didn't list which ones were included.

Cool, thanks for that link!

Intersting enough, I read a similar article just yesterday, where Nintendo explained why they gave up on converting Tennis:

Shit, Nintendo... just make the bombs/bullets travel in a line from their point of origin to their destination. It really isn't difficult.

Will 3D NES Classics be online download only? I will not buy them if thats how they will do it, even if the game is fun I will not play that way.

That wouldn't solve the problem though of a bomb supposedly originating from the ground killing you immediately if you happened to be right near it when it launched. :P In a 2D world that works fine. In the 3D world, while you can make it work exactly like the original, it just doesn't jibe mentally when you actually play it.

Were you hoping for the equivelent of the GBA Classic NES Series on cart form? That would be nice, but my feeling is that it wouldn't be as well received today in the "app" era. Retro games will most likely be for download only.

Huh, I'd have thought they'd give up because the game is complete and utter garbage! NES Tennis is one of the very few games I genuinely hate -- it's just so, so cheap, and the dynamics are all wrong.

3D Xevious is pure awesome! Downloaded it the other day, and it's definitely worth the $6 I think.

Agreed - looking forward to more 3D re-imaging of classics like Excite Bike and Xevious!

I only had GB Tennis back then, which was quite okay, IIRC :)

That's good to hear, now I really hope that Mega Man 2 is amongst the six 3D titles! :)

GB Tennis is a thousand times better -- I beat it recently, and thoroughly enjoyed the game. It actually feels like tennis, and rewards attacking play instead of forcing you to exploit holes in the AI in order to win points (which is basically the only way to get anywhere in NES Tennis on the higher levels, since the computer is a backboard who can be anywhere on the court in an instant). I remember reading a claim that they'd based it on the NES Tennis engine, but if that's true they obviously made some massive improvements.

I agree with everything the review said, although I would have given it an 8/10 instead of a 7/10.

At the end of the day it's still just Xevious I assume ;)

He's just mocking Capcoms recent record of Mega Man "releases". Of course it's going to be MM2 - if any :)

I don't mean to rain on your party, but Capcom just cancelled Mega Man Legends 3 on the 3DS. Why would they release any NES game on the system since they've obviously lost confidence in it?

If they DID release Mega Man 2 on the 3DS, it could be a huge slap in the face to anyone who wanted MML3.
