I've only played one Harvest Moon title in my life: Harvest Moon 64. For whatever reason, I was thinking of trying another Harvest Moon title but noticed that there are several options available.

For those who have played various Harvest Moon titles, which one would you recommend for the Wii:

Tree of Tranquility or Animal Parade?

Or perhaps a GameCube title would be better:

A Wonderful Life or Another Wonderful Life?

Is there any difference between the Wii and GameCube versions of Magical Melody?

Or maybe you'd pass up Harvest Moon entirely and play Rune Factory....

Thanks in advance for any comments - info - input.

These are basically the same, the difference being that you play as a girl in Another Wonderful Life.

No major differences as far as I know, though I only own the Game Cube version. I'm pretty sure the Wii version has motion control.

Rune Factory Frontier
.

No, seriously. I tried this game out thinking it would be a mediocre time waster until something better came along, and it ended up being one of the best games the Wii has.

It's easily the most underrated title on the Wii. You won't be disappointed.

I heard the same. I've always wanted to try it out. Its going for insane prices though.

Thanks for all the comments - info! Much appreciated.

I checked out Rune Factory on Amazon..... $129.00 NEW !!!!! Almost $50 USED (and probably rental copies since they are disk only). This is a pricey game.

I may pick up a copy of Magical Melody for $19 and keep an eye out for a reasonably priced Rune Factory to buy.

i would go back to the one that started it all..... Harvest Moon on the SNES. Yes its expensive to buy. I have seen the carts going for 100+.......but thats where the virtual console comes into play. Download and enjoy.

wait, what? rune factory is supposedly worth money? Yeesh. It's not even that old... well, I could sell my copy and buy a sword. It's good, but not that good.

Anyway, harvest moon: brilliant, original idea... repeated ad nauseum. People buy it every time, so Natsume is just being rewarded for their BS.

The SNES one is pretty cool, a little pricey, and not a ton of variety. I like it.
The GBC one can be hard to find but is good.
The 64 one is fine.
The GCN two are alright, not a fan of the graphics, but a maybe your best buy in terms of price vs. value
The DS... three? The original DS one, harvest moon DS, is decent, but has a long, dull dungeon section. Sunshine islands seems alright. The DS rune factory is a bit of a slog too.
The Wii harvest moon, tree of tranquility, is awful. Even slower, uglier, and less intuitive than the average. So much wait, awful sound effects. Argh.
Haven't played any of the download (wii/dsi) ones.

Aimee says Tree of Tranquility or Animal Parade, but not both. She says they are equally good. She says they are exactly what she looks for in a HM game.

She does not like the GC games.

I was pretty well horrified by tree of tranquility. There's a distincitve toilet flush sound that's supposed to be rain, and it kind of sums up the whole game for me. I like harvest moon in general though.

Thanks to all for your input and suggestions; much appreciated!!

I picked up a complete and in good condition Animal Parade for $8 at a flea market so I'll try to get my Harvest Moon urge satisfied with it. (NOTE: one booth had a disk-only Rune Factory priced at $100 and I kept on walking).

Rather than start another topic, I thought I'd ask a question here in this thread since the game is similar......

Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny hits the stores tomorrow, Oct. 11th, and I was wondering if anyone is planning on picking this up? I haven't read many previews on the game, mainly just the description on Amazon, but from what little I've read this looks to be an interesting release and I may pick it up, especially since its $40 from Amazon.

Order it here: http://www.amazon.co...ASIN=B0058VI0G2
