I've been wondering about the GP2X Caanoo for a while, and I'm still on the fence. Is is worth getting one? Is it better or worse than the GP2X Wiz? Is the emulation better or worse than a PSP with CFW?

I really like the Caanoo and I favor it over my GP@X Wiz and Dingoo A320 personally.

I had gathered that by your previous posts in other topics. Since no one else here at AA seems to have touched/owned one, maybe you could tell me more?

Definitely! I payed more with no regrets!

Again, I cannot give you comparison as I did not do the CFW PSP thing a lot, I got tired always having to get latest CFW since the Caanoo is open source that is not an issue, I have been very happy with several non MAME emulators.

Thanks for all of the info. Play Asia dropped the price again today to $88. I don't think I can resist at that price

I'm still waiting for my Caanoo to arrive from Play Asia, but the Wiz I bought from Think Geek arrived today. After reading so many mixed opinions about the Wiz I didn't have high expectations, especially about the build quality and the controls. I have been pleasantly surprised. So far the Wiz is much better than what I had been lead to believe by reading various online comments and reviews.
I haven't gotten far into the emulation yet, but what I've seen so far is at least on par or better than what I experienced on my CFW PSPs.
Interestingly, I recognize the names of many of the PSP homebrew authors as the same developers of the Dingoo, Wiz, Caanoo, and Pandora emulators. The majority seemed to have ceased work on their PSP projects in 2009 when the Wiz and Dingoo hit the market.
It's far too early to tell if the Wiz and Caanoo will replace my CFW PSPs for portable emulation, but it seems like a possibility. These open source handhelds are much easier to deal with than constantly updating CFWs...
