Tried the first pic & it loaded up - weird though, it seemed to be a shrinked jaguar console - were they sold like that in the US? I'm pretty sure all the new Jaguars I've had were just 'sealed' with the silver sticker over the flap. Then again, my memory is poor!

Hmm might be my work computer that might be blocking it? I'll try it on my computer at home.

None of the pics link's work? :(

I was thinking about getting a new Jaguar but the one I currently own is in mint condition even tho the box is a lil beat up.
The links for the pictures should work, I just tried them while at work and they came up fine.

My second New Jaguar arrives today! I am going to keep this one sealed. Although, I may open it and keep it as a spare just in case the one I have now breaks. Addiction.

I just received a second jag today :lust: I got it specifically to play two player Doom, which is funny when you think of my previous comment about it :D

Obviously in a perfect world every Jaguar owner would have a Pro-Controller; but given that they are so expensive (I'd really like to know how many were produced) some of us may have to "settle" for a standard pad.

So is it safe to say that other than the overlay issue on the "G" that it is the superior made pad? The connection issue could probably be fixed with an extension cable and tape.

Best Electronics in Canada was heavily pushing the "B" model to me saying that it's super to the "G" because the "G" is "mushy."

But that's not really relevant either to a thread of a new owner enjoying his Jaguar...
Wouldn't have brought it up if 1993 hadn't been used as an excuse for Checkered Flag and Supercross.

To be fair, the Jaguar was built to do 3D with flat shaded polygons, while the 3DO was built to do 3D with texture mapping. Comparing the power of the two isn't really fair, as the Jaguar can push more polygons -- but they aren't texture mapped and vice versa. To me, the flat shaded look ages a LOT better than the texture mapped look, but that's a personal thing and if we're all going to be honest, 99% of the 3D games on both systems look pretty miserable today.

I like the Jaguar for the end of the 2D era, not the start of the 3D games... excepting Tempest 2000.

And really, Checkered Flag doesn't look horrible, it just controls horrible. Supercross 3D definitely does look horrible, but they were trying to texture map the Jaguar which wasn't it's strength at all. Tempest 2000 looks great to this day and controls well too.

The newly released Robinsons Requiem for the Jag shows some decent texture mapping and a decent 3d engine IMO for Mr Cogordans first trip around on the Jaguar. Looking back now he said its definitely not his best coding. So the Jag can do texture mapping but its not its strength of course.

Decent compared to other versions of RR, true.

The RR gameplay area is less than half the 320x240(?) screen and seems to have little going on other than landscape for a lot of the time, so it's not easy to compare to other Jaguar games having to do a lot more grunt work.

It started during the reign of the 8 bits - if you can't throw the sprites and polygons (flat, shaded or otherwise) around at full screen in your game you reduce the playing area by making the hud/status panel/score+lives area larger. If that doesn't work its level/sprite complexity, in game goals and game balancing that needs the fine tuning. Or you put up with reduced frame rate and subsequent potential poor reviews and lack of sales.

Amen to that. Checkered Flag looks really good for it's time in my opinion
