The first two levels are simple enough once you play it for a while, but then you get to level three, and old Bertie has to colour in the squares as before, but this time, stepping on them changes them back. So how can you complete it? I always have to retrace my steps to colour all the squares, so I can never get anywhere! Any tips on how to go about it?

I'm not a huge Q-bert expert, but I usually have luck going all the way down one side, working on getting the corner completed, hop across the bottom and get the other corner completed, then hop back up to the top and try to fill in the middle. Usually Sam makes this difficult, but getting the corners fixed early before the board fills up with enemies seems to help for me.

I made a video to show you how I do it.

It's very difficult to explain how to do it.
I'm not using any patterns.
You basically have to come back on your step very often.

Let me know if you have any questions.
I've being playing this game since it came out! ... in 1982 I think.
I'm usually able to complete the 9 levels almost every game I play.

Also in this video the first round of level 4.
This level is a mix of level 2 + level 3.
You have to jump twice on each squares to get it to its final color and if you jump a third time on it it will go back to color #1 (not the initial color but the color after the first jump)

Damn man, you make it look so simple. Very educational, thanks for posting.
