...Perhaps Mappy could be done, with all of its different items, doors, trampolines, etc.

All these suggestions are really awesome so far! :-D

I'd also like to see a Star Castle. The other one doesn't have two player... and its most likely I won't play the other version, so one would be nice. :)

Maybe Stellar Fortress will be finished one day.

Definitely it is necessary to have a page with all homebrews listed, together with latest binary, project status and one screenshot.
Authors could insert their homebrews on this page and update it.
Now we have hundreds of projects (finished or not) hidden in various subforums and blogs!

Al, please, months ago you promised you would add this feature to the forum.

Rally X ?

GeTAway

Chip's Challenge

Gauntlet

Cool!
Looks like a perfect fit for the boulderdash engine?

colour 'character graphics' mode (multicolour characters, in a 10x8 layout) - check
large scrolling, animating, interactive playfields - check
large numbers of active objects at the same time - check

Exactly. Tile based games are generally very well suited for the BD engine.

Does that come with the biaries and the distribution rights? I'd hate to plop that much money down
if he's just gonna make another one and sell it again.

2600 Bomberman would be awesome, as would Boxing Bugs, Zookeeper, Crazy Taxi, Black Widow, Alien Vs. Predator, Duck Hunt (lightgun support of course), House of the Dead (another Lightgun game) and Typing of the Dead (piggyback cartridge that would give your Compumate something to do).

I like the idea of more light gun games but I want to shoot 2600 characters. Something like Space Invaders but instead of them marching down the screen they would be marching toward the screen. I have to shoot them before they reach the screen, instead of dodging their laser bombs I shoot them, and the UFO flies in the background. It would be just like Space Invaders but it would be like I'm looking up from inside the laser cannon. It would be like what Wall Ball is to Breakout but not suck. Something like that previously might have been considered impossible to do well.

I don't want a Zookeeper homebrew. I want the real thing to be released someday. :D

EDIT: I have nothing against someone making a homebrew of Zookeeper as long as the original is released someday too.

Although Super Cobra is an excellent scolling shooter, I would like to see Scramble, it was my favorite game in the early 80s.
Scramble would rock on VCS.
