I remember going to one of the arcades down the Jersey shore when I was younger (maybe early teens), and playing a game that was a blatant Star Wars rip off. It was a sitdown (maybe cockpit) game, and I remember the graphics being red in color. One of the objectives was to destroy a "death star" type ship. That's all I remember.

Can't for the life of me remember the game. Maybe I dreamt it up! :)

This sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks!

Midway's Space Encounters maybe? It had a color overlay with some red in the middle. Can't think of any other video game besides Red Baron that was all red though...

And I don't believe this was ever released as a cockpit game, although it would have made a good one.

That's definitely not it. This game was most likely early to mid 90s (I'm guessing here). The graphs were pretty good, although I can't remember if they were vector. I don't believe they were.

EDIT -- Not sure if the game graphics were red. For some reason that's how I remember it, but I may be way off.

Thanks though!

Ahhh... a modern game then. Was in classic mode when you mentioned Star Wars. Oh and by the 90's, vector games were long gone. Early 80's was the last we saw of them if I'm not mistaken.

Maybe Namco's Starblade? It's been a long time since I played but maybe there are some elements like you described in it. I know how memory can get fuzzy on occasion so maybe your description doesn't exactly match my game but it could be it. Look it up and let me know.

That's it! Loved this game back in the day, even it it was a Star Wars rip off. I thought the graphics were red, but what I was thinking of was the death star-like Red Eye.

Thanks! :)
