On Beef Drop I cant go right

On Clowns and Balloons I cant go completely to the right and miss some clowns

other games, the right movements are ok...

Update, I confirm I cant go right in any of the games
three atari 5200 joysticks supposed to be refurbished
but they all have something, start button doesnt work on one
on the second the fire button doesnt operate
and on the 3rd one it is the joystick itself
the trackball is out too

or I am really unlucky with my controllers for 5200 or they are crap

There are x and y sliders on the side. Adjust them.

There's also an analog adjustment dial INSIDE the 5200. I've had to adjust it to make the system work properly with some games, particularly Gyruss. Why they didn't put the dial OUTSIDE the system where players could actually reach it is completely beyond me.

Pots go bad on the Wico's just like the stock 5200 controllers. I have a pair that both have bad pots and the left-right and up-down movements are bad. I tried the slider adjustments to no avail. The bigger issue is that the Wico pots are special small plastic ones and are not readily available like the ones that Atari put into their controllers. I did find some on a guitar website once, but they were priced around $25 a piece. Ouch, too expensive for me.

5200 is a tricky beast when it comes to calibrating controllers. The first thing is to get a controller that you know the potentiometers are properly calibrated and use it as the baseline to adjust the console pot. You are going to have to open the console case to adjust the controller pot on the motherboard.

Also, make sure you have Missile Command, Super Breakout, Gyruss, and Popeye games handy. IMO those are the big four games for properly calibrating the controller and console pots.

If you have controllers needing refurbished/calibrated and are unsure of how to do it, send them to me and I will make them like new. You will still need to check the console calibration when you get them back, but at least you will have good controllers to work with. The console pot calibration will be easy at that point. It is next to impossible to get this sorted out with both controllers and the console out of calibration.

And btw as for emulation there are no good ones. Tried them all. The only thing that worked was kat5200 and it was buggy. CPU crashes all the time.

Yeah, emulation is pretty iffy for the 5200. You'd probably be better off buying an adapter for your 5200 so you can use ordinary controllers with a D-shell connector.
