I'm taking my son's travel baseball team (16 yr old) to a weekend tournament where the whole team will be staying together. They don't know it yet but I've packed our Atari 2600 and a projector. I've limited the selection to 4 paddle games (Kaboom, Breakout, Medieval Mayhem, Circus Atari) and 4 joystick games (Pitfall, Ms. Pacman, Beamrider, and one other I can't recall). I'm also taking a Sega Saturn with Bomberman (although I wish I had another multi-player adapter). I want to see how much (or how little) they enjoy playing it.

Nice; great way to kill the down time. The last few vacations I have taken my Atari plug and plays along and they have come in handy.

Thanks. My daughter was helping me test our paddles last night. She still loves Kaboom! :)

I hope they enjoy playing it. I plan on bringing my modded 2600 with me on vacation early next month. I hope my family enjoys playing it. My cousins enjoyed playing my NES when I brought that last summer, which got more playtime than the Wii lol.

Tonight's game was rained out so we went to watch a minor league game (Fort Wayne Tin Caps) and hooked up the atari afterward. The projector I'm using is a kids projector and needs almost complete darkness to create a picture that is still almost unplayable but about 5 of the boys were still interested. We played some Kaboom and Circus Atari. We'll hit the other games and hopefully some Bomberman tomorrow.

BTW - the game I couldn't remember from my original post was bowling. I noticed that there is also a Megamania with the carts.

Good news and bad news. The atari was a big enough hit that we never got to hooking the Saturn up (there was only one available tv). The boys really enjoyed Medieval Mayhem, in fact I could hear a couple of them humming the MM tune during infield practice the next day. The paddle games were much more popular in general as Kaboom and Breakout got some heavy play. At least a handful of games of bowling were played and I could hear Ms. Pacman although I never actually saw it get played. I personally played one long game of Beamrider but I don't think anyone else did. Pitfall was played some and they checked out circus atari but neither got as much play as I expected although I think it was just because they liked other games better sine the atari didn't sit idle when we had free time.

That's awesome! Glad everyone had fun with the 2600 :)

Now I think you convinced me to bring my modded Atari with me to my family vacation next month ;)
I just hope I won't be the only one playing it and I gotta make sure I don't bring my rare games too lol
