Today I released my new Atari Jaguar video review on my YouTube channel, and I thought I might post it here as well. However, I know this is probably the most passionate and critical audience I could expect to view it, so I hope you feel I was fair and balanced with my review. I actually worked pretty hard on it. Take a look and let me know what you think!

Good review. This was the first review I've seen of yours and I like your style. I was concerned with your intro that there would be a lot of yelling and maybe swearing and breaking things but first impressions were misleading. You should definitely check out Doom and Wolfenstein. Very good ports for the jaguar. Doom gets hit a little hard for not having in game music and that does kind of suck since Doom's music is pretty good. After a while though you don't notice it (I don't anyway) and you're left with a very good port of Doom.

Nice job. I will have to check out some of your other reviews.

Thanks! I used to do professional reviews back in the mid-90's, before corporate funding ran out and the site was shut down. That was primarily written reviews on current gen games, so now it's fun to turn the focus to video reviews and classic games. I post 1 video a week about whatever happens to strike my fancy!

Great review! Even though I've owned the Jaguar for years, I always enjoy hearing people talk about one my favorite underdog consoles.

The Jag isnt suited for 3d, thats for sure, but man, supercross and Checkered Flag are not the games to really judge it for 3d. Those developers sucked.

Yea I checked out some of your other reviews, good stuff. Bought some of your suggestions for the iPad. The wife loves that Nebula game.

Keep up the good work.

Nice review. The only improvement I can think of is having the games' music/sound effects in the background while you're showing them, but otherwise it's flawless.

Having music playing in the background that is not yours, is an instant flag against your video with YouTube if you live inside the USA when you have Partnership. They may let one or two slip by, but they are pretty adamant about that stuff...and it's getting worse. I've had several of my videos denied because of background music.

I doubt anyone is going to raise a copyright complaint for Jaguar games ;)

Anyway, isn't it allowed under fair-use when it's a short extract used for illustration ?

It's a weird time in the US right now, with a Bill going through Congress to make streaming gameplay footage a Felony (See Here). For some reason, they seem to think that showing game play footage is similar to showing a movie, as though people won't buy games because they watched it online. YouTube/Google is trying to prepare for that, and controlling how much gameplay you show in a video, despite fair use is open to interpretation. Including background music in your video, which the music industry already doesn't like, just adds to the misery. So I try to be very careful with all of that stuff.

Man, Congress needs to go back to being a part-time job, sounds like they're getting bored up there.

Wow... I knew copyright law in the USA was pretty abusive, but it now seems to have reached the "utterly crazy" state.

Oh, not only the US. In Germany the vid isn't watchable, locked by "GEMA". Some stupid music copyright institution here in germany :-D

Seems the German gov is even faster then the US with locking some poor Jag vids... :(

Finally got myself a new computer (with sound!) so only just now had a look. Excellent review from someone with a fresh perspective (",)
