tecmo bowl nes question

I have cleaned theis game 3 times but when i put the game into the nes i get programing erorr # 7 help

Do other games play fine on that console? If not, then it may be time to thoroughly clean the 72 pin connector.

I have not seen NES games go bad, as far as ROM chips and such, but there is always a first time. You did say "Tecmo Bowl", and not, "Tecmo Super Bowl", right? Reason being that Tecmo Super Bowl has an on-board battery for game saves that may need replaced. Just a thought.

Finally, if all else fails, this may be a better question posted on the Nintendo Age forums.

When I still dealt with NES systems and games, Tecmo Bowl and Mario 3 were particularly troublesome games to use.

I've heard a couple different reasons for those 2 games acting up but never researched it further. Some say the boards are too thin, others said the contacts were not positioned right. :ponder:
